    Changing the oil

Hey Jeff. Of course I recall. Great memory. I was on the verge of moving. I was still in Central CA during Vegas. Man....I miss the old rallies:(

change oil in ford gt 2005

The big O-ring is a no-brainer. But indeed that smaller O-ring (definitely a rubber O-ring, and not a crush washer, packaged in the plastic bag along with the larger one) is a head scratcher. The old filter I pulled out along with the plastic cage didn't have one which is why I'm questioning...

change oil in ford gt 2005

Yes, Clint. You're correct. My mistake. That is where I put the new O-ring. The confusion here though is whether or not it should be there at all? When I took out the old filter, it didn't have one.

change oil in ford gt 2005

The one included with mine was definitely a rubber O-ring and the only place it could possibly fit was near the tip of the plastic cage. Just above the green line under the ridge where the plastic widens in @Art138 's pic. Regardless, do I need to take the filter out again and remove it?

change oil in ford gt 2005

But do you put that small O ring on the plastic cage?

Which BMW cap are you referring to? Not sure we're talking about the same thing here.

    Changing the oil

Hmmmm. This is now stressing me out. What washer are you referring to? My filter came with the element, and 2 rubber O-rings. One for the lid and the other much smaller one which only fits near the tip of the filter cage.

    Changing the oil

It's a Motorcraft filter from the local Ford dealer parts counter??

    Changing the oil

@The Grey Ghost was spot on. Got three of the NAPA gaskets and they work perfectly. Separate question: Motorcraft filter came with the large O-ring for the oil cap. There is a smaller 0-ring that goes on the tip side of the filter cage. Read on another thread that this isn't used. Probably...

change oil in ford gt 2005

Well, I just changed the oil/filter and I used the small O-ring closest to the tip. Is there any harm in doing so??

    Changing the oil

Found them at NAPA. Thanks for the tip. Assume you’ve used these with success? Last thing I need now is to fill the tank only to find a massive leak afterwards😩

    Changing the oil

Sounds more like a crush washer. How are those reusable?

    Changing the oil

Ha. I was shocked as well at how tidy it was behind the belly pans. Well, aside from the light coating of oil on the oil pan that was probably coming from these leaking plugs.

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

My car is on a lift at a friend’s house. I don’t want to take up space in his garage if I can get the gaskets first. Can always do the valve at the next change. Has anyone else had these gaskets disintegrate like this? Are these meant to be changed at every interval? Multiple oil threads across...

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

The Fumoto valves? Have to find the link. Does the kit come for replacements for all 3 plugs? EDIT: found it. https://www.cooltechllc.com/ford-gt-parts-accessories/126-ford-gt-oil-drain-care-convenience-kit.html Still uses conventional plugs for the 2 in the pan. Still have to supply the...

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

I didn't try anything yet. Nothing is open today. But I'd rather just get the part from a Ford parts counter and know it fits rather than fumbling through a tray of 1000 O-rings and gaskets that may or may not fit.

Oil Drain Plug gaskets part number??

(Reposted this in the "Oil Change" FAQ thread in the hopes of getting a quick answer) Happy New Year, and long time, no hear, my GT brethren. I attempted to change my oil this morning to start off the year. Everything going fine up until I pulled the drain plugs in the reservoir and the pan...

    Changing the oil

Happy New Year, and long time, no hear, my GT brethren. I attempted to change my oil this morning to start off the year. Everything going fine up until I pulled the drain plugs in the reservoir and the pan. The gaskets were absolutely shredded. Noticed some oil drops on the pan and on the...
