Could the cable problem cause the "crunch" shifting from 1st to 2nd? The same problem does not occur when shifting from 3rd to 2nd.

I have a 20 ft ATC. Tows like a dream, although I have not towed my GT yet. I have towed with my Lightning, my Touareg and my motor home. I usually tow between 65 and 75.
