    E-Transit

True enough, but the when "the big one" hits the PNW it's going to be an interesting (if unfortunate) test of the hypothesis ...

However, if the power is out you won't be able to get gas either unless you've stored fuel somewhere - pumps won't work.

Yes, my brother never forgot that ride ....

    Built by Trolls

Both I and my brother had several 850 Saabs each back in the early and mid 60s. Unique is an understatement - note that the radiator was behind the motor! My brother got a ride with Erik Carlson, who was touring US Saab dealers at the time. They went full bore down a dead end street and at the...

Is this normal for a high mileage car

My car (34,000 miles) had a fair amount of front end chipping at 13,000 miles when I got it, so I put Clearplex on it back to the middle of the front wheel wells. Even so there are places where I can see the Clearplex saved the paint but has been indented by rocks. The place where most chipping...

Looking for a low mileage GT

Actually, it's not so difficult to see a car being sold on BaT. Cars are up for a week or longer, just be prepared to immediately contact seller to arrange a drive etc, then buy a ticket and fly to see and drive it. I had good luck doing that when I bought my TVR. It came up for sale, I...

Looking for a low mileage GT

More to the point, looking at the photos, where are those gauges located? they don't seem to be on top of the dash near the driver ... and why is another coolant temp gauge needed? I can't figure out what the middle gauge is, either. Miles driven or engine hours? With 262 miles, what's the point?

    Which GT to buy?

That's a good list, but I didn't see a place to add optional equipment whose presence might make a big difference in selecting one car over another, such as after market shocks, aluminum clam vents, GT Guy clam latch, GT carpets, hard wired battery charger lead, back up camera, Whipple, engine...

    Registry

Keep in mind that all the information in the registry is at least 14 years old. A lot of cars have changed hands etc in the interim!

    Floor Side Member Panel

Thanks! Must have been very painful. I've had a couple of similar but fortunately much smaller "drive over events" leave their marks in the same panel. The perils of actually driving your GT!

That's too bad. Can you tell us what happened to do so much damage?

    Frunk Rubbing Against Bumper

What are you calling the "nose screens"? The radiator screen in front or the panels behind the radiator?

    Measuring power steering fluid level

The power steering fluid in my car was recently changed, along with new hoses. Long ago I was told that the fluid level should be checked hot. I assume that’s correct owing to fluid expansion raising the level in the reservoir. That also suggests that if fluid is added, that to correctly measure...

Coolant leak at front of pulley/pump

At about 28,000 miles and some undefined distance before that, my water pump leaked out the weep hole (spattered the belt and clamshell glass with coolant), and at 28,000 miles, if I remember correctly, Ryan P. (CoolTech) replaced it from the bottom of the car and did not disturb anything in the...

    Clamshell spring cap

The spring and cap is a 99-04 Mustang or last gen T-bird part, Ford 6G7Z 6343128-A . You can buy the assembly (much less expensive than a GT part) and unscrew the cap and reinstall it on the existing spring.

Purpose of the square hole in belly pan

Must be a slow day ;), but I was under my GT and noticed (again) the square hole on the right forward side of the more forward of the two removable rear belly pans. With a flashlight it appears as though one can look up and see the bottom of the power steering pump, but I'm not sure. Does anyone...

Any interest in an adapter to mount a speedhut speedo in an OEM dash? Did this one. Works well. Working on a tach adapter too.

Not to be negative, but why bother? I'm not sure about current prices, but when I bought mine, the Speedhut gauge panel and all the gauges cost less than the Ford speedo or tach cost. In addition, the Speedhut panel is slightly smaller than the stock one so is much easier to change.

Why is it difficult to get GT parts?

I hope so, too. However, remember that Ford used some very advanced industrial processes to make parts, like the superplastic aluminum shaping. For a small manufacturer to make aluminum fenders or other body parts and make the carbon fiber liners for them would be very difficult and expensive...

Availability of Rotella T6 5W-40 synthetic or substitute?

Hi Pete: One of these days I'll have to make the trip to Kalama! Both the Shadow and the Rapide are running well, I drove the Rapide and sidecar more than 100 miles a couple of weeks ago and it is a workout for the shoulders, I can tell you. Anyway, I switched from the Motorcraft when Ford...
