New headlights for 2005/6MY Ford GT

I don't think the 4x estimate is accurate. There were less than 3,100 550 produced between 1997 and 2001 and about 2,600 575 produced between 2002 and 2005. Other than the outer lens, their headlights are completely different. There are actually more FGTs (4,038) produced than either model.
I believe Matt is referring to the volume of 360s and F430s, not the still-in-development 550/575 headlights. The 550/575 headlights still require a deposit at this time while the 360 and F430 headlights have been already produced.

What about the matte finish carbon internals? should we just stick to the textured black plastic instead? OE as it gets, aside from improved optics?

Personally, I love the CF. Having dissembled a few OEM units, and seeing what the raw plastic really looks like, if not CF, I would want the plastic painted with a catalyzed matte black paint for uniformity, which is exactly what I did with my own.

I would imagine there would be a cost savings by not doing them in CF.

Yes sorry I was referring to the 360/F430....its unlikely the 550/575 lights would make it into production since we've yet to take one deposit on them. That said, the housings are shared between both cars, only the internals are different.

I like the carbon, it subtle from afar, but looks at home up close. We would swap out the chrome trim inside for a satin silver too, which would match other exterior components on the GT like the gas gap, the latches on the front fenders, etc.

I think as STOCK looking as possible might be the most successful, assuming you not able to offer options (CF, silver, or?)

I tend to agree, 100% stock market is best. But that would be mean look and output/lighting. That is probably the only way to not replace a pair at a time.
If the output is upgraded, that probably makes the subtle changes (in the look) a moot point.

I also like the improved bevel around the headlamp housing itself.

As an european I really like this project a lot but also on the other hand I have to admit that it won‘t be street legal over here. Major bummer…
