3D Printed Oil Funnel

This is my first post on the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself and show everyone something that I recently designed and 3D printed for a friend with an '05 GT.

A little about me... I started tracking a GT350 around 2020 and was frustrated with the messy oil change procedure after each track weekend. That led me to design and print an oil filter guide in order to remove the filter without making a giant mess all over the belly pan. While I was at it I designed a twist-to-lock oil funnel with a large aperture so I wouldn't need to hold a funnel while pouring 10 quarts of oil into the car. Fast forward a few years and I now have a fun little side business where I design and 3D print car specific oil funnels. Unfortunately I blew my engine on track in 2023, which ford replaced under warranty. I immediately sold the car and turned my sights to my dream car.... a Ford GT. Unfortunately, a GT isn't in the cards for me at the moment so I decided to build a Superlite GTR. While building my car and sourcing parts, I've come into contact and made friends with several members of the GT community. As a gift, I decided to make a custom funnel for a friend of mine who owns an ‘05 GT. After several prototypes, we finally have a winner!

The funnel has a Tupperware style lid for the top and a twistable cap for the bottom. The caps keep oil in, dust out, and lets the funnel stand up straight during storage. I figured you guys would appreciate this little invention :)

Thank you very much, glad to be here!

Yup, good memory. 6G is where I got my start with funnels before branching out into the gt500 forum, then the tremor truck forum, and a few others. It’s been fun supporting so many models.

Thanks.

I’m unfamiliar with forum rules for this sort of thing, but I would definitely produce more if there was interest.

so I decided to build a Superlite GTR
I did the same, how is your GTR coming? See mine in mine in my Avatar

It’s coming along nicely thanks to Allan, who’s completing much of the mechanical/interior/fabrication work for me. I’ll start wiring and paint next month and should be finished by the end of the year.

I’m very familiar with your car, love it! I believe you’re #11 on the list I made of completed cars. You’ve got a great build. https://www.gt40s.com/threads/how-m...-many-are-drivable-gtr-owner-directory.58773/

If you need a funnel for your car, let me know. I’ve got one ;)

Thanks! Send me a PM if you’re interested in one for yourself.

I just received my GT oil funnel from PilotGore, aka Jon. I'm in Jersey for the summer and the funnel won't see my Florida GT until October, but here is my assessment. This 3D printed device was clearly developed as a labor of love. Its advantages over a conventional funnel are limited but using it will also be a labor of love. The threaded base screws into the threaded fill port of the GT oil reservoir. The large, square-ish mouth allows you to dump in a quart-size oil bottle without holding it in place. Very neat......literally. The snap-on top cover and the screw-on base cap will make storage drip-free. This boutique, humorously over-engineered, GT-unique oil funnel will be a joy to use. I have many more expensive, unnecessary doodads for my GT most which sit on shelves. This funnel will get used once a year with a smile on my face.

That is very cool! Definitely would make a good birthday, xmas, whatever holiday gift for someone with a Ford GT or that works on them.

Forgot I could've replied to this thread and made my own: https://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/threads/ford-gt-oil-filler-funnel-by-member-pilotgore.39553/ ... it's cool (y)

Because I’ve had a few people ask in private messages. The price is $70 including shipping in the US. A few dollars more for international shipping.

Thanks for all the interest!

Awesome, glad to hear! I hope you find it useful.

Just remember, it’s a good idea when using that funnel to pull the dipstick out slightly when filling oil. If you do that, the funnel should take oil about as fast as you can pour it from a 5 quart jug (or individual quarts.)

Perfect Jon, thanks!IMG_7829.jpg

You’re very welcome!

Got mine today. Can't wait to use it.

Nice piece of work, Jon.
