Late to the thread--I have had three gauges fail: oil pressure, boost and temp. One with brand new optima battery installed prior to gauge replacement with failure two weeks later of another gauge.
I have been driving with speedo, tach, boost "unplugged" to preserve them until the gauge gods...

Gauge failures
Just to add my 3 failures to the list: Oil pressure gauge, manifold pressure/boost gauge and just last week the voltage gauge. Ford definitely needs to address this obvious design flaw wherever it lurks.:frown:frown
