If you know, why the AC power? LEDs are DC powered (2-5V) and current driven (operating currents are <20mA levels). Best if constant current power source is used if the voltage might vary (like in cars), but that can be accomplished with a transistor and some resistors running on the vehicles...

Yes alcohol has less energy, therefore you need more pumped into the engine and that is why cars converted to E85 (not the factory optioned Flexfuel ones) need bigger injectors and high volume fuel pumps. Forget to add mpg is is also lower, but not important on performance cars.
