Has anyone received or seen a GT350 on a dealers lot?

A while back, either on the SVT or Camaro forum, I say Dave comment about (paraphrasing) "Ford builds GT350s and sells them at premiums, and Chevy builds Z/28s and sells them at discounts." Well, for some lunchtime amusement, look at the current GT350 vs Z/28 disparity on EBay Motors:
GT350 first http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cars-Trucks-/6001/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=GT350&_vxp=mtr
Z/28 http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cars-Trucks...cat=6161&rt=nc&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=50000&_udhi

Needless to say, the GT350s are well over MSRP. That doesn't mean they're transacting at those prices, but it's a strong bet they're not being sold below list! Conversely, the Chevys are well under sticker. I saw an isolated Z28 @ sticker, but the rest, even with >200 miles are mid $50s. Ouch...

So, what that sounds like to me is that the Ford Dealers are reducing the sales volume of the GT-350s by increasing their individual profits, while the Chevrolet Dealers are increasing the sales volume of the Z-28s by reducing their profit margins, to the general public (not committed Ford or Chevrolet buyers). The Ford Dealers are surely not helping Ford sell more cars. Shame on them!!

It sounds easy to blame it on the dealers Ralphie but the market sets the pricing. Capitalistic economics of inventory verse demand. Don't worry the sticker price will be rising and the selling price will be falling.

The mystery of this is where is the inventory? There is more to the story of the production numbers. Is it the carbon wheels?or the summer tires? but until just recently there was zero units really out on the market. Shoot I haven't seen Dbk showing off his car, where is it?

Many of those eBay units are just click bate or showroom show off units at the largest of Ford stores.

And it's a lousy comparison against the Z28. They have been out on the market for years. Some of those guys flipping the low mileage Z28cars are trying make a run for a way more capable Gt350. I've had that phone call.

I think in simpler terms, the Z/28 was waaayy overpriced (and not to mention, kinda ugly), and the GT350 was (at least @ MSRP) much more favorably priced. Furthermore, I don't think the Chevy ever sold well. I know some initial buyers who had to have the car paid premiums, but the fact that <500 miles cars are 25+% off MSRP for the state of the art Camaro doesn't show well for the brand.

Dealer markup doesn't affect the vehicle volume on a car like this one way or the other. As far as manufacturers are concerned, the cars are "sold" when they hit dealer inventory. On specialty car like this, the volume is gonna stay the same no matter what, even if they are sprinkled around unsold at dealers with markup on them. There's just not enough units planned to justify adjusting production one way or the other.

In the Z28s case, GM just learned that was a car without a market. The cars were barely on the ground before you could get them for $10k-15k under, and even then they weren't flying off the shelves.

Glad to see they do exist!

Hope to see the sun shine on that car soon.

Come on stop teasing,more pics.

From the Mustang forum, 3133 total 2016 MY GT350's have been built as of 2-27-16. Only 55 "R" versions of which 7 went to Canada. USA "R" versions: 6 base and 42 Tech optioned, a 7:1 tech to base ratio. Come on Ford, crank it up!

Actually, there have been ZERO GT350R's built with the technology pack option. That package is not offered on the R. The 67S option on the GT350R is, technically (no pun intended), the "electronics" package.

Red 350R on floor of Huntington Beach, CA Ford dealer.......and dealership owner's white '05 FGT.

....and they want $98K

They can take the $98K in shinny silver dollar coins and sh..........,. Re-godamndiculous

the Rs are worth every penny ,best Mustang of all time. better get them while you can.

I have a 95 R. Pretty cool car for its time, and lots of dealer markups. Know guys with 2000s as well. Same story. I'm voting not worth every penny of the markup. Dealer has a right to charge, and sucker has a right to pay. I'm betting some of the finer shops will have standard 350s running laps around the R in 6 months. For less.

Ford in their chart at the bottom left regarding the 920A/67S electronic package refer to it as "Techno R-920A/67S". http://gt350.registryclubs.com/pdf/gt3502016029.pdf

Yeah, I saw that, but that category but it's an incorrect label. If you look on the options section of a window sticker, you will see clearly that the 67s is "electronics package". On a base GT350, the simply liar offering states "technology package". It's the same in the ordering guide.
