Clam Shell Vents

Has anyone had there clam shell vents that were warped due to engine heat replaced under warranty?

GT Bill I think all of them will be out of warranty by now. Mine had not warped yet but I changed them with petunia's side and top vents. Shadowman did the painting for both sets. My car is white/blue stripe and I stayed with the stock colours. Shadowman did a perfect job matching, you can't tell if they are the stock or new ones unless you touch them and feel the difference.

Stock replacements, or custom? Which look best?

Thanks,

Jeff

NJF, it's a matter of taste.I prefer the stock look and have been extremely pleased with the stock look billet. There are picture here for comparison.

I just received my stock-look billet parts from pe2unia -2 top and 2side and oil filter cover---lovely. I plan to leave them in the bare aluminium condition with the small cutter-tool-cutter-path markings left on them. I would like to put a protective coating on them before installing. Pe2unia gave me some recommendations but I was wondering if anyone has 'clear-coated' their parts and did it last? crack, yellow, chip etc over time?
I plan to install after Christmas.

I clear coated Pe2nia Aluminium top vents last year (Pe2nia stock), and powder coated black the side vents also from Pe2nia, zero issues to date. :thumbsup

Picture? What color car/stripes?

Ford replaced mine under warranty 12/28/2010 - they also replaced the ducts that are covered by lemans stripes under warranty as well

Just got my vents. What did yo use to clear coat them?

Thanks,

Jeff

I just got mine back clear-coated. The shop that did mine:
1. cleaned carefully
2 used standard automotive body panel clear-coat
3. used bake oven to bake the parts.
As stated earlier, I did not polish or remove any of the tooling marks.

They look beautiful - totally clear.
I will install once the weather gets above 20 degrees F. here in Detroit !

Yes we do have a handful of vents left. www.fordgtbilletparts.com
If I purchase a set of clamshell vents , can I still get Shadowman to paint them. They are for a white car with blue stripes. Thank You

ShadowMan didn't paint them. He had a good paint guy that did it for us in CA. Excellent work, but you should be able to find a good shop in FL or closer.

FordGT6, to what Frank said, that was then, today suggest you "search" the forum and find the color code for the blue stripe (i know its here in the forum somewhere) which will give you the recipe to have them painted or powder coated....

I like Frank went stock for the top vents as I went through 3 sets of Ford replacement parts pre billet. Also think about replacing the long side vents on the clamshell as originals also warp and Pe2unia also milled those "stock" replacements.
