Now you all have video verification that Pockets isn't just going to extremes when he insists his cars have N-O-T-H-I-N-G in them when taken in for service.

'Wifey balked at doing that early on...but, knows BETTER now. (That's a whole other story...)

That's very good - must be quite a good little CCTV system to be so well hidden and yet give such a clear image.

There is some spy footage somewhere showing that on the red Ford GT's they put an extra powerful engine in compared to the regular cars. :)

Uh huh...but it's still just a V-6. And as powerful as it is, it still can't hold a candle to the std mod 'motor' put in all other GT's. ESPECIALLY the ones put in the blue/white cars, which all got the special "upgrade tune" at the factory.

But then, everybody knows that...

Sure, it's a V6 as the run in engine, then the additional engine kicks in.

Come on Red guys, where are you? :biggrin

My manual says the V6 is there just to turn the supercharger.

Oh come on, Neil/Mark, don'tcha think if red was the fastest color MATECH's cars would BE red??? :shrug

Is a Shiny Red Sports Car
The Most Popular Color?
by SolveYourProblem.com

When one thinks of a new sports car, they may conjure up a mental image of a sleek, low-slung, curve-hugging engineering marvel. Quite often, that image is painted bright red. From “Little Red Corvette” to the pervasive (yet untrue) urban legend that red cars cost more to insure, the public seems captivated by the notion of a red sports car.

So, it would certainly not surprise anyone if I were to tell you the most popular color for small cars and sports cars is red. However, if were to tell you that, I would be lying.

The DuPont Automotive Color survey tracks color popularity among new car purchases annually. Interestingly, the results from both 2003 and 2004 show red is not the most popular color for sports cars.

20% of new sports cars purchased in both 2003 and 2004 were silver in color, making that the most popular color choice.

Red sports cars, however, still retain a great deal of popularity. In both surveys, red sports cars were the second most commonly purchased. 16% of sports car purchases in 2003, and 17% in 2004 were painted red.

That’s still a significant percentage of the total market, but it is surprising to realize that red sports cars make up less than one-fifth of the total purchased in the United States in any given year.

Black and blue sports cars are right on the heels of their red counterparts. Each accounted for 14% of sales according to the extensive DuPont survey.

While we continue to associate the idea of new sports cars with a bright red, shiny paintjob, the statistics show that association is not quite in line with car buying reality. Although still a very popular paint scheme for new sports autos, red is not the most popular hue for hot-rodders.

"Black and blue sports cars are right on the heels of their red counterparts. Each accounted for 14% of sales according to the extensive DuPont survey."

And the reason for that is'nt too difficult to understand. Both blue and black cars ARE A LOTTA WORK to keep clean & shinney!!! One has to have a certain amount of ambition & drive to keep wunna those lookin' "spiffy". And since RED car owners tend to be a little anemic in both those areas...uh...:rofl

"Although still a very popular paint scheme for new sports autos, RED IS NOT the most popular hue for hot-rodders."

Of course not. Most 'rodders wouldn't wanna handicap their cars in the speed & power department, now would they! 'Would kinda DEFEAT the whole purpose behind building their cars!

(Ya, I know, Sam... "Shuddup Pockets"! :biggrin)

Where did baby blue and orange come in on the survey :willy:wink
