I thought the warranty on the GT was 2yrs/24,000 but I was just reading the window sticker on my car and it reads 3yrs/36,000.

Was I the only one thinking it was 2 years? Maybe I need to lay off the meds.

3yrs 36,000mi........kinda tells you Ford intentionally left this car way short of kill when they came up with the tq, hp and tune numbers.
in 68' Pops bought a Hemi Charger and the power train came with "O" warranty.

Is there an option to be able to purchase an extended warranty? Either at the time of a new purchase or prior to the end of the factory warranty?

No, an extended warranty is not available from Ford. Aftermarket only ..... caveat emptor!

What todd said.

Additionally, if you remember back a couple years or so ago when Ford bumped up the warranty to 5/50 (or whatever it was) as part of a sales promo - the GT was specifically omitted from that program.

I don't think I've heard of an "after market" warranty available either. But, if there IS - it'll be spendy.

Warranty through Geico

Geico has a program for when you buy a new car you can add a mechanical warranty for a really low price. I forget what it is, but maybe 20 or 40 every 6 months? Of course if you sell the car you get nothing, but that is true with all warranties. I think they really miscalculated on this one but to me it was a no brainer as the cost was super low and the possible cost of repairs could be very high.

My car has an extended warrantee from Ford. I am told it is no longer offered. I guess I was very lucky. I bought the car from a dealer. It was his personal car, but he never registered it and it had only 15 miles.

You won't be able to collect on the extended warranty its not that the warranty is no longer offered...IT NEVER WAS. More than likely your dealer fudged something to get one. They track every claim that comes in on these things. Trust us we've tried to buy them...its been tried and gone to the top of the food chain...claims after 3 years or 36K will be denied.

My guess would be he is talking about the "Dealer Services" warranty. It is an aftermarket extending warranty that is available for the Ford GT. However, if you read the fine print it has a $24k cap and I think it costs about $2,400. So it is not a very good deal.

Ford just transfered it to me after charging a $50 transfer fee?

Don't doubt that you have it Joe. What I believe is that the dealer wrote one that won't ever be collected on. Most people when you say GT assume the mustang and we have been though where dealers offer us our free oil change and didn't realize what car it was..29 for a mustang vs.. 300 for our cars.

Congrats is you ever get to collect on the warranty..my guess is that if something needs to be fixed after 3/36 it will get denied and Ford will void the warranty as invalid.
