Took a superb 2 hour trip in the GT last weekend to visit my son in college (wife went to see daughter at different college; simultaneous 'Parents Days'). Just me, one overnight bag, and absolutely no room left. I mean my glasses, cell phone, radar, cup, all contending for 4 cubic inches of nothing. A bit of a pain (offset by having the worlds best torque curve and exhaust note!)
In preparation for another trip, thought I'd attempt to relieve the storage burden slightly.
1. Bought two document/manual holders. Figured I'd find a place to mount unobtrusively for oddment storage. Behind seats? Along driver's tunnel? Not sure. Gonna get creative.
2. Got two 'GT' logo'd bags (not cover bags, smaller) that supposedly fit up front. Considering mounting them to firewall (again, no intentions of cutting or altering anything; surface mounting only.) They'll fit, hold stuff off floor, look cool, hold things still accessible from driver's seat.
3. Designing center console, hinged lid, padded top, for cell, glasses, whatever. Ewing's things are gorgeous, but I find solace in building things.
4. Got the GT tray for radio area. Really neat little piece, surprisingly functional for size.
5. Mat mounted cupholder (for a Mini) works fantastically. Had one in my 512TR, great simple, removable solution.
6. Getting roof mounted garage door opener cubby. Another potential spot for glasses.
All these things should free up a tiny bit of space, or at least neaten up the 'tossing it behind the seat and hoping it doesn't get crushed' approach.
Does anyone know what 'space' might hopefully lurk beneath the door armrests? Or do I just stop where I am before going completely nuts?
Other ideas?
