After dealing with the media for many years, I can tell you that when it comes to this type of story, ink always runs to the highest number. All CEOs have to live with that at this time of the year. The smart ones don't try to explain it, they just suck it up and eventually the story goes away...

I owned an F430 F1 Coupe for about 18 months. Loved it, especially the carbon ceramic brakes. Put about 4500 miles on the speedometer, probably more than 1,000 of those on the track. It's a terrific car on the track. Very precise turn in and, as others have mentioned, good mid-engine response...

Also keep in mind that most tires lose their speed rating after repairs are made. Personally, I would not drive a repaired tire on the track. Probably OK on the street at reasonable speeds. Also, with the price of tires on our cars, it pays to check pressures before leaving the garage.

Just an observation: the last two issues of Auto Week had only 2-3 GTs for sale--all at dealers. I can remember a few months ago when AW regularly had quite a few up for grabs. I think shrinking availability shows that once you get your hands on a GT, it's hard to let go.:wink

Forget your customers. Start worrying about the plumber who comes to your house and sees the GT before he gives you an estimate.
