Ventureshield staining...

Just an FYI in regards to our Ventureshield performance.

Shortly after install we smacked some really large bugs that turned into large yellow blobs at "high velocity"....

W/ my exposure to 3M clears in the past which I was VERY unsatisfied w/, the latest & best Ventureshield product was found to be FAR superior in appearance.

However, during a wash a few days later we found that the yellow (not the red, black, or that psychedelic purple (hippy bug?)) bug juices stained the clear quite considerably. Bright frickin' yellow to boot just as if someone poured highlighter ink on our hood, fake brake scoop & both mirrors....

'Course the biggest contributing factor to the noticeability of theses stains is our car is white.

So we contacted the distributor who checked w/ Venture direct who said it shouldn't happen & if there is a small discoloration, that it will oxidize out.

It's been approx. 2-1/2 mos since & I can attest that the stains have reduced considerably.

We have agreed w/ the dealer that if the situation has not rectified itself by the spring it will be replaced in those areas.

Of further note when it was first discovered I used some Novus 2 & 1 on one smaller stain w/ no resulting change.

Will update as this progresses, possibly in the spring, but just wanted to give a heads-up to other owners of said product.:thumbsup

I've had some bug stains in my SSR 3M stuff ,they do fade out with sun exposure. Keeping a good coat of wax or Rejex will reduce or eliminate staining..

Same problem with stains on 3M here. I never could find anything that would remove it. But lke Brian said they do fade out some over time.

I hate big friggen juicy bugs:ack

I have had the same issues with both brands..

Aahhhh, the infamous Plexus....:skep

Now I'm not absolutely 100% on this but back in my industrial design days we we're told that a substitute (or original product) for Plexus was .... drum roll please.... Pledge.

Yup, if Novus wasn't appropriate we used Pledge to polish alot of plastics on prototypes etc, & found it repelled dust, geez apparently we were told Plexus even has the same "lemony fresh" smell:biggrin

Of course taste test first then test on the largest area, results may vary w/ IQ, etc. etc. etc....

Yeah, also we waxed the Ventureshield w/ 100% Carnauba a few days after install but these were some monster bugs...

I have been installing these products for 3 years now and have found that isopropyl alcohol works very well at removing stains. Just apply some to a rag and let the alcohol soak into the film. Do not rub it or you may scuff the finish up. It will soak the stain out after a few minutes and it looks good as new. It also works very well on scuff marks in case you have someone drag their feet against the rocker panels while getting in. Just my .02

good tip, thanks!

By the way, I love the gif. I find myself being hypnotized by it... which is not good at work. Whatever you do... dont change it. ;)
