I LOVE Vmax’s, especially the first generation! I rode a Honda V65 for a long time, and love the old muscle bikes.

I have a 1989 Vmax. Bought in 1993 with just a few hundred miles on it. First owner scared himself shitless and refused to get back on.

I like big bikes, and I cannot lie. Here's my 2013 Kawasaki ZX14R on the Blue Ridge Parkway:

I like big bikes too.
Also ADV bikes.

This was my 1983 Honda Magna V65, which I rebuilt after a racing accident in 1993 (which actually is what steered me into a career in medicine). I painted it Amazon Green Pearl (a Porsche color from that era). Here I am drag racing a Vmax, which I beat only because the Vmax driver didn’t know what he was doing.

Probably should’ve created a proper new thread for all of this! 😂

Nice!! I did a similar trip years years ago with a friend with similar model Kawasaki. I was driving a BMW. Skyline drive to blue ridge, tail of dragon to “ back “ of tail of dragon( preferred the latter!). And cherohala skyway was outstanding!! Riding these roads on a good handling road bike is special. Leaning , accelerating, braking, you become part of the road! A feeling even a good sports car can not match!!
Looking forward to do some riding in Europe, Dolomites my goal!!

Well, since this thread has morphed far beyond the original subject, let me add to it. I’ve been hacking away at the Washington Back Country Discovery Route (WABDR), on my KLR 650. This is a shot of Mount Rainier, beyond an alpine lake, near Chinook Pass.

And this is the top pitch of a particularly difficult section called “Baby Head Hill.”

Beautiful pic! Kinda similar in class to your KLR, I had a Honda XR650L for a couple years. In N Cent FL tho, we quickly found out there's not enough unclaimed wilderness, well any really, to make a big enduro much fun. I envisioned miles and miles of trail riding, overnight camping trips on 'em, etc. Didn't happen, so I sold it and got a GT 🤪

Just bring a bike up to the PNW. LOTS of wilderness here. You can go ride forest roads and not see anyone for an hour or more.

One of the reasons we spend a lot of time riding in New Mexico and of course Big Bend in South Texas is great too

One of the few interesting things we found, we were zipping along a power line trail only to find an old bridge gone, nothing but some of the dilapidated pilings still standing in the water. I dunno how they go about maintaining this line ... well, actually, looks like they don't.
