Hi guys, I saw this video and just thought that this Heritage GT with the sliding window/classic racing window was just so right.

Does anyone know who sells them or anyone with good info about them.

Cheers

My guess is that's a "one off" mod. I can't imagine there'd be much of a market for GT40 'sliders' in a FGT. But, maybe that's just me...

Seriously I think they make the car look much more brutal.
I really want it on my car.

I imagine you've considered inquiring about having the mod done at one of your local glass shops then? If not, you might give that a go.

I would think opting for that mod would, of necessity, render the factory's existing electric window feature useless though (clearance issues).

GTSweden,

That is kind of a cool look. The windows on the first Ford GT mock ups had flush mounted windows like the original 60's cars. In that configuration they could not be made to roll down. There was some debate over whether to recess (set back) the windows into the door and make them roll down windows even though that would compromise the styling of the car somewhat. The decision was made to sacrifice the flush mount windows in favor of roll down windows as picking up McDonald's fare at a drive through would be too difficult through that little slider. The biggest downside to the fixed windows with the little slider in that FGT is that they are still set back into the door like roll down windows. Here's a photo of the concept car with the original flush mount windows.

Aha I see. The owner of the GT in the video answered to my post:

hi meister!

i'm the owner myself.. any car tuner or especially race car builders can make that..!

the whole window has to be replaced with plexiglass. and of course you cannot roll windows down anymore..!

I think I am going to ask around here if anyone could do this mod.
Thanks again for your replies.

Regarding Chip's post;

I would have surmised that the difficulty of making the windows a roll down variant would have some at the rear of the door where the scoop cuts deeply into the door surface. Since it was resolved by making a faux wing window, it was obviously the leading edge that was the problem.

Anyone know what is up front in the door that lead to the window not being able to come down up there? :confused

The prototype windows are the bomb (along with the wheels, which I am still unsure as to why they could not be made to work since custom wheel firms build anything you like with any offset you want). :rolleyes (for you Dave :lol)

I have no factual info to base this on, but, logic would dictate the motor is pbly located there.

If I remember right, it has to do with the offset of the proto wheels. The extreme offset of those wheels wouldn't work with the final suspension setup.

I'm with you 100% regarding their looks though!!! I'd have MUCH preferred those as well!

This may be what you are looking for Kool scoop from aircraft spruce www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appags/koolscoop.php
You may have to have a plexiglass side window made for the side window. A talk to an aircraft window shop may be informative.

Good luck:secret:
