Has anyone bounced the tach to the rev limiter and if so did the car have the typical sputtering type of response? Along the same lines would doing this on occassion (let's say doing a burnout in 1st gear) harm the engine, valves or supercharger in any way? Thanks for any feedback offered! :thumbsup

i drive mine on the track and have hit the rev limiter many times...as you mentioned...sputters..

Yes, it is a "soft rev limit" cutting timing and fuel giving the "sputter" sensation. IMHO You can hit the limit with no ill effects - that is what it is designed for - to keep us from damaging the engine by over-reving it accidentally. It is not the most efficient way to drive however. Peak HP comes at 6000 rpm and shifting before you hit the limiter should result in quicker times.

Good info DBT, I was mostly referring to doing a crowd pleasing burnout. I guess dropping the hammer in 2nd or shifting during the burnout would solve the rev limiter issue!

bigdan40,
While I haven't tried one in the GT, I would think that once you got the tires smoking in 1st gear you could then modulate the rpms with the throttle thereby keeping the burnout going without constantly bumping against the rev limiter. True "crowd pleasing burnouts" usually are achieved with the assistance of a brake line lock which is not "standard equipment" on a GT! :biggrin
