DeaconBlues,

PS..VPC was right. My father own an automobile paint supply store, I grew up going to body shops. Paint is not be be even touched with the palm or fingers of the hand (because of grease, except when washing). Any material, even air that contains dust or grit acts as sandpaper or a sand blaster to the paint. You can spot a paint pro by watching him touch a cars paint (if he has to), he will use the back of his hand.
Light colors will not show "spider webbing" easily (the minute surface scratches caused by bad washes (not enough rise water before wiping with cloths) or car covers. Black cars finishes can be ruined in the first bad wash by an ignorant dealer or owner. Dust can be washed off, scratches have to be buffed out(if they can). Better to wash than buff.
Enjoy that puppy!!
