But the reasons for using the V6 in the new Ford GT have been discussed many times but the summary is, in order to run in the FIA GTE class, a vehicle is allowed a naturally aspirated 8cyl up to 5.0L or a turbo/supercharged 6cyl up to 4.0L. The HP:weight and size of the turbo V6 make it the natural choice when building a race car
