Need a GT in Iowa

My nephew's wife has recently been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. They are having a benefit for her to help raise money to help with expenses on 1/19/2008. She has a 12 year old son that was born a quadriplegic and a 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter. The life expectancy is only 3 to 5 years after diagnosis. I would like to donate a ride in a GT for their fund raiser. Since I live in Colorado and they are in Des Moines, I was hoping there might be an owner that is closer that would be so kind as to volunteer a ride. It would be an auction and we would be clear to tell the winner that the "ride" wouldn't be until the weather was suitable to bring out the GT. Thanks.

UPDATE
______
Hi GT Guys,

I’m Bill’s sister, Judy. He is RedGT on your forum.

I just wanted to let you know the results of the first charity event for Stacie, a young mother with ALS. They were able to raise half the funds needed to pay for the addition to their home. As you know, they are adding a bedroom, handicapped bath, and small living area to their home as Stacie will soon be unable to climb the stairs. This is the only home their small children have ever known, and it was too difficult to try to move to a one-story home. They have more than enough trauma coming in the future to add a move to it. Also, the real estate market in their area makes it almost impossible to sell their home and purchase a new one. Plus the master bath in another home would not be handicapped. Thus all the reasons for the major addition they have done.

You have helped make all this possible. They are so extremely grateful!!

To update you on your generosity:

Nine checks for $100

One check for $200

One check for $500

In addition, we had a GT ride offered by BCF which was auctioned off at the Iowa charity event and two more trips will be auctioned off at the Houston charity event on March 6th.

AlohaGT has offered a ride in his FGT in Hawaii plus three nights at a hotel in Waikiki. I am going to use the money donated by your group to add plane fare to the package to make it more valuable in the Houston auction.

Kjslider also made a wonderful package available for the auction. He is offering airfare, four nights at the Hilton, and use of his GT or GTX at Newport Beach.

Pauleddy offered to fly Stacie and Michael to Florida and give them a ride in his “Black Beauty.”

Our family is just in awe of all of this!! I heard that you have a rally in Vegas this year, and my brother is planning on attending. I told him I would love the opportunity to meet you all and thank you personally. If the schedule fits with mine, I hope to see you there!

I will let you know how the Houston event works out on March 6th. We hope to raise the other half of the cost of their home addition. That will remove the money aspect of this tragedy and make it a little easier.

God bless all of you!!! Judy Hopkins

Bill,
I have added your flyer. Use the registry to directly contact any GT owners registered in Iowa. Good Luck,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel. I did look at the Registry, but didn't see any owners listed in Iowa. Hopefully there are some close by that could help. It is a heartbreaking disease. The more she walks or tries to live a normal life, the faster the muscles deteriorate. It would be wonderful if someone can come thru as any help will be very much appreciated. Bill

I will sticky this thread until after the event.
Is there a way we can contribute by credit card?
I assume this is not a 501-3(c) but I am willing to help.

Bill,

I feel for Stacie and her family. A very close and dear friend of mine was diagnosed with ALS last year.

How about a FGT ride that's much further away? I would be honored to donate 3 nights in Waikiki and a ride in my Heritage (would have to coordinate to ensure I'm in town). Also, we'd have to hook up away from the hotel as I don't want any of my employees to know about the FGT.

If this sounds like something that could help, please email me.

Kelvin

Why don't we start a pitch for air fare and make a serious auction package.
Kelvin, can you do a package with air??? . Put me down for $100

Daniel, yes, I can package with air. As you know, that's a variable expense affected by several factors. Room with air (for two) and car obviously makes for a much more compelling package.

We'd need to have our FGT Forum community step up ASAP as the Benefit is this Saturday.

Thank you for your generous donation.

I'm out of Platteville, WI and would be happy to drive to Des Moines to provide a ride ... when the weather gets better.

I am in for $100

Option #1: Please put me in for $100.00 and advise where/when to send the check.
Option #2: If flying her to the west coast of Florida, perhaps with a companion, would make sense because of her health and time constraints, I would be happy to spring for two round trip Southwest or Spirit or Jet Blue tickets, plus a full day of riding around raising hell in "Black Beauty" for this girl.

I will take Bill's lead to determine what he would like to do. Meanwhile, my offer still stands and I'd be very pleased to put this package together including air; however, we'll need many more generous Forum members to make this happen.

Daniel, yes, and both my wife and her jeweler thank you!

I'm in for a $ 100.00 and a ride on the east coast of Florida..
