Basically (and 'basic' works for me), Map (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors in the GT do the same thing they do in any car. They tell the GT's 'peuter what to supply for fuel delivery & ignition timing based on the amount of boost (or lack of it) in the intake manifold.
