The removal does not look obvious. Any tips?

Thx, Tom

Here you go.

Tom,

The door sill plates are not that hard to remove but they are destroyed in the process. They are attached with very sticky two sided tape so just get an edge started and peel them off. I then used WD-40 to remove the residual adhesive. These sill plates are not that expensive so you can order a new set from Torrie if you ever want to return to the stock look.

NOW....with them off, clean the WD-40 off with a Windex soaked rag and when dry and clean, install the trick Project 321 carbon fiber and billet aluminum door sill plates for maximum door jam happiness. Cheers.

Hey Tom, I'd add only this to what Chip said: If you've got access to a low heat gun (or a hair dryer), then heat up the sill plate before and as you're removing it. I found that it made the glue under the sill panel a little softer and so I found it easier to pry up the metal. I grabbed the edge of the sill plate with a set of pliers (although I did try to do it beneath a cloth to try and preserve the originals - I don't think it can be done..... :biggrin) Anyway, DO BE CAREFUL when you get to the end of the sill plate because it's being pulled up under tension. If you don't have that end under control, it's quite likely to 'pop up' and could potentially scratch your leather on the door or seat, or worse yet, some paint. (that didn't happen for me, but I do recall reading that somewhere on here before).

Thanks Gents.

I will tape off the ends so when the sill pops off it will be protected. Heat is a great suggestion.

Chip...I was at pavillions last sat. The national pantera group had 80 cars there. Great time. still amazed at how many think the gt is a modified pantera??? go figure.

Hi Tom: I finally found a wrecked 06 Gt in Portland. Currently changing it over to a replacement body from Ford, Exciting but a lot of work figuring out sequences of transfer of parts. I am trying to remove sill plates, like the idea of Carbon fiber, and could you tell me where i can get them. Also How do I remove the shoulder seat belts without taking off the covers in the engine area? thanks Wayne Darby
