Hi there.

First of all. Excuse me if my english is bad, i´m from Sweden :wink

Well, next week i´m going to uk to get my Ford GT (wich i bought from a friend) home to Sweden, and there is a several things that i wonder about. My friend isn´t at home now, so i can´t ask him.

This FGT is sold new in UK, and does anybody know if the turn signal lamps on the FGT from UK is orange or red?

The other things i wonder about is if there´s any anti theft alarm system on a stock FGT?

And my last question is:
Has all FGT´s the steering wheel on the left side of car? In sweden we want left steer, not right steer like in uk. And how do i adjust the lamps so they match swedish roads and not english? (what side u are driving on)

Hope that u can help me.
Greetings from sweden.

Welcome,

We drive on the right side of the road. I believe the cars all have the steering wheel on the left, well at least the Euro cars in the magazines had them on the left. The only differences I have noticed are headlight washers and extra side marker lights on some exports.

We have another member from you neck of the woods. Try a search for
1 of 101. You should be able to find his posts and PM him for more accurate details.

Welcome.. :cheers We have some members from the UK and from your area as well. I'm sure the reply when the get on line ..

All steering wheels are on the left, just like in Sweden. Side marker lamps in front are amber, back are red. The car comes standard with an anti-theft alarm controlled from the remote keypad. I'm unsure, but the UK cars were all required to have a hidden theft system (similar to the American Lojack) which may or may not be required in other European countries. Welcome to the fold.

Thanks. In sweden it´s not required to have any alarm at all. We dont have that problems with carjackings over here. But it would be nice to have an alarm anyway.

The turn signal i ment, is the one who flashes when u are about to turn left or right in a crossing. I´m not sure what it´s called, but i think its turn signal lamps, or is that the same thing as side marker lamps? Anyway, are they red in back and amber in front? In that case i have to find a solution to that problem. In sweden it´s illegal to have red flashing turnsignal lamps. They must be amber. :-(

Sorry for my bad english.

Hi, and welcome..... :wink

The car you are buying should have been given something called an SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) - this means that the turn signals are amber (orange) as you need in Sweden. If not, you should have Roush make this change BEFORE you take the car home. Roush (who are in Essex) are the only people in Europe properly qualified to SVA the GT - they are a Ford partner involved in the development of it.

The GT in standard USA trim has no rear fog lamp (do you need one in Sweden?) and the conversion to amber turn signals removes the reverse (white) light.

I would imagine your friend has already had the SVA done, however it's worth double checking.

Let me know if you need any help, I can put you onto the Roush team if you need them.

Ok, i see. I suppose that it is a quite expensive operation to have Roush make these changes. I work as a car electrician in sweden, so i think that it may not be hard to manage the amber turnsignals myself if roush is too expensive.

Btw. In sweden there is no need to have any fog lamps at all.

As far as i know, the only thing i need to import and register the car in sweden, is the registration papers from england.
Becourse sweden and england is EU countries the papers look exactly the same, and i think that in england u have to have amber turn signals too?

You probably know this better than me, but it would be nice to know.

Me and my wife is going to stay with my friend for a few days. We are also going to visit London and check some things out. So if u see a white FGT, then it might be me, hehe.

Thanks for your answers.

Expensive? You're talking to the wrong person! :lol

I don't think Roush would charge you much for making the conversion - a full SVA (that's everything for UK compliance) is about £5,000 from memory.

I would be tempted to advise that you have Roush make any change as there can be problems with the turn signals operating at a different rate under braking (for example).

When are you buying this car? Could you not have the car delivered to Roush, have them make it 'Sweden legal' and then ship it to you? Roush can handle all this stuff on your behalf and were the team behind the all of the official 101 European imports....

A second vote for Roush here. There's a good chance they know about the car already and what has or not been done to it by whom. Have a chat with Jim Basset on +44 1277 261400.

The nice thing is even though they're the only official GT service centre in the UK, they don't abuse their position and charge inflated prices. I have my Noble fettled there as well and the service is always top notch.

And no, I don't work for them!

WELCOME TO THE GROUP, SIR! :thumbsup :cheers

( By the way, your English is just fine! In fact, it's much better than that of some of us "natives"! 'TRUE!!! :biggrin Don't concern yourself.:cheers)

The Roush conversion is GBP 5,000. You can save a penny here and there and have it done for GBP 1,500. But even the guys that offered the conversion for less advised me to go to Roush.

You have probably spent in the region of GBP 125-135k to get the car. Don't screw it up for a few thousand pounds. Roush will stant by the product after the conversion and will give you the peace of mind of having a sorted car.

Also Roush knows the requirement for Sweden. As Neil said they were the only authorized dealer to work on the European/UK FordGT conversion.

They have 2 locations in Europe. One is in Essex (North East of London) and the other in Germany.

Phill Brett Guy is right. Since the car is in England unless it is a grey import from the US and it has still US plates then Roush knows about the car.

All the official UK imports went through them.

where in Sweden? I've vacationed there a few times as it is one of my favorite countries - especially since I live in the desert of Arizona.

If I had knowed that was you when I see'd you, I would have wreched out my arm and woved at you!:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Lewke, I hope everything works out well regarding your GT purchase. I understand that King Gustav is quite a Ford enthusiast and a good friend of Carrol Shelby. I have a friend (Richard Cabral) who was a personal mechanic for the King some years ago.

I rest my case, Lewke! :lol

Welcome, congrats on your wise choice. Hope to meet you on my next trip over to your land. I plan to pick up another Volvo next year at the factory.
Meanwhile, we hope you attend our rally.:thumbsup

Near a city called Lund.

Well, now i have to take my blonde wife for a ride into the city, so can go shopping crazy, hehe.

(Not all girls are blonde and have big boobs in sweden, and not everyone drives volvo or saab. But in my case i drive Volvo and have a blone wife, hehe) In fact i love volvo, and i have rebuilt a volvo 240 Turbo with almost 350Hp. A volvo is almost a must in seden, hehe.

Here´s a pic of my volvo if anyone is intrested.

Couple of us on the Forum have Volvo's. I have a v70r with a chip, headers, pulley and I guess 400hp at the flywheel. The wife has a c70. Now I am looking for a blonde with big boobs, but she does not need to be Sweedish, a Dane would be ok....

BTW. Is it possible to adjust the headlights to match the swedish roads instead of the english? It would be fun to know how to do it.

What do you mean adjust the headlights? A new headlight assembly is about $500 and you have to remove the fenders to change them.
