Error attempting to play CDs

I have the McIntosh unit in my car. After my car arrived in Texas, I noticed that my CD would not play. I had Shelby try another one. It would briefly start to play the first track and then give an error message. :bored Any thoughts? Has anyone had a similar problem. I don't normally care about listening to the radio or a CD...except when faced with long distant rides like we had in Austin...then it is nice to have.
Also, since I will likely need to remove the head unit to fix it...any ideas on connecting an Ipod.
Oh yeah...for those who met me...I am mechanically challenged...no I will not be offended by detailed explanations.
Thanks in advance!
Scott

Are they homemade CD's?

I have seen lots of issue's with them in car stereo's:frown

Try cleaning the CD and the CD Player

Nirvana, it won't play MP3's, but Wally (CobraR1939) had a way of doing it. Look for really old posts on this. Analog Designer also had a problem with his. Can find on ebay from time to time. Best thing, install the iPod adapter.

The GT has a CD player? C'mon next thing you'll be telling me it has a radio too. I guess I haven't used that option yet.

:biggrin

Hey Trent, we have GT rallys, too. Where the hell were you and your wife? You Canucks only have the cheap radio.

Sue & I were very sorry we couldn't make it this year but a very special family event took precedence, count us in for R5.
:cheers

Ok. Just got the car back today....Shelby did a pulley and tune...miraculously, the CD player now works fine...go figure.
BTW, anyone have a recommended cable for the CD player? I checked other threads but the links to the referenced cables appear broken.

Any cable with two RCA plugs on one end and a 3.5mm plug at the other end will work. I bought a Monster cable for $20. It has a nice, thick rubber coating.
