With prices now down to reality, I'm looking seriously at buying a GT. There is a '05 White/blue stripes available at the dealership very near my home. It's an early '05 car with the lower MSRP of $156K. VIN # ends in 421 or something close to that. The sticker on top of the windshield starts with J4. Records suggest the car was made in Feb. Anyway, the computer search shows it wasn't a recall car for suspension problems. Could engines have been made with the "speedy-sleeve" patch job that ended up in some of these early cars even if they weren't officially recalled? The car has been sitting at the dealership since May and they are ready to sell it near sticker or less, I suspect. Maybe, I'm paranoid but I have been advised to stay away from cars with low '05 VIN numbers. I'm almost willing to pay $10K extra for a late '05 or '06 if they have been "debugged", rather than have problems with an early car. Past experience influences me. I bought an early '01 Z-06 and ended up getting it re-ringed under warranty, as it was an oil burner. Thanks for any input.
