Any comments about early 05's? The vin numbers under 500, seem to be available still new at several dealers for a lot less then the later cars. I know there are many past posts on this topic, but I wonder why folks dont trust the fact that Ford WILL repair any re-call issues ...? thanks...

GT's under #500 WERE RECALLED and factory corrected. Issue was change of A-arms failing under high stress environment. All units shipped were replaced with Billeted A-arms.

Half way through the first year the list price was $139k which was subsequently marked up to $149k as base price. Ironically enough the sticker price didn't mean anything till end of 2005 as dealers were receiving as much as 2x the sticker. What you are most likely seeing is the after effects of greedy dealers who took delivery and have been holding the cars under speculation, now knowing they will never get the prized 2x upside, except in Maui:lol

Fla Chris, Bony, DBK - comments?

Ford repaired anty know issues. They are less because the list was 10K less. Probably added the 10K later to make up for changing the A-arms. If you are buying, and 05 before the increase has a lower "list" price.

Book value depreciation difference between the two years and dealer has been carrying car for a long time and may need to finally sell it.

Most consumers would buy a new 2006 over a new 2005 also.

As I understand, a few of the early crank shafts supplyed were slightly "groved" where the seal rides. This would cause a leak after the first few hundred miles. The problem effectived only a few of the first 200 or so cars. The repair was performed in the field with speedy sleeves (which pissed a few off) by techs from factory Ford only as needed. The problem was given much attention because one of the first cars to leak was Jay Lenos'. I don't believe this was officialy a recall.

I have an early car (#229) and the recall on the A arms was done by Ford prior to my purchase. Also, no oil leaks or any other kind of problem with the car. If there is a measureable difference between my car, and other cars I've seen, I'm not noticing it. John

there are threads on this subject that outline all the differences, which are minor. do a search for this information.
