I seem to remember reading previous posts recommending 30k for regular driven cars, but much sooner if the car just sat.
I pull the cover every other oil change and check it though.
Here is what the manual actually says:
OIL PUMP DRIVE BELT
Change the engine oil pump drive belt if your vehicle has been stored for
an extended period of time (three years or more) without the engine
being operated for at least 30 minutes per year.
I take this to mean that the belt need not be changed until 30k if the car is driven on a regular basis. Even if 30k is many years.
What I posted was a direct cut and paste from the 2006 Ford GT owners manual PDF from Ford Owner Connection site. Page 191, toward the end of the scheduled maintenance section.
Was not trying to mislead anyone.
Thank you. I found the reference in my service manual but it doesn't mention the 30 minutes per year. I have a very early version of the manual so I'm not surprised.
My '06 service manual doesn't mention 30 minutes per year either. It says change the belt if the engine hasn't been operated for three years. Otherwise, change at 30k miles.
