Clam shell rubs when hot

I have started making it a habit to open the clam shell when I get home from a drive - allowing the engine bay to cool down and minimize plastic warping.

Question 1. Will the gas shocks holding it open wear out after a while?
Question 2. Have you noticed the center rear of the clam shell rubs on the rear facia only when hot?

Your gas shocks will not wear out - I imagine you would eventually shut the rear deck when the engine has cooled? It could be argued that the gas shocks would actually last longer as the gas is no longer in compression when opened. However you wouldn't want to get grit on the chrome element that is revealed when open.

The clamshell/rear deck should not rub in any temperature - it probably needs a bit of adjustment.
