Ford GT 5.4L Oil Squirter Plugs (set of 8) 05-06 GTOSP $199.99

That qualifies as all I know on the subject.

Aren't they used to cool the pistons if in the block and cool valvesprings if in the valvecovers?

Hi Mark

Not sure about the oil squirter plugs.... “plugs” infers to me that it would be blocking off the oil squirters.

Typically “oil squirters” are for cooling the pistons, helping with pin lubrication, and improving the oiling wedge between the piston skirt and cylinder bore for improved piston to bore protection against scuffing. The main thing is piston cooling. Not sure why you would want to block them off if that’s what that is… a lot of people look at the windage losses from the increased oil being slung around but the gains in keeping the piston cool in my opinion far outweigh those windage detriments. We usually add squirters to our pro race motors. Some pro road race engines run up to four of them per piston. Prostock runs them.... etc

So… I really haven’t helped answer your question but perhaps it helps understand oil squirters. The limits in our engines are always thermal limits... removing or reducing hot spots allows the overall threshold to go up.

Cheers

The plugs were made for Gt500 motors with internal oil pumps. There would be no reason to take the factory squirters out of the GT motor. Now the gt500 guys are using the GT squirters and not the plugs. People were origanally worried about not enough oil pressure up top. So in the begining we ran the plugs.
