It's always good to run a new car as soon as possible to start the learning / debugging process that a race car will need to go thru to develop. I think the new Vipers ran a few events out of the points the year before a full season to get some time on them. I am sure Ford wants to go to Le Mans to compete so they need to rack up some time on these cars.. Don't leave anything to chance...
