Chip wishing them all the best of luck. Not!

Gentlemen,

A fine day to be sure but my plan isn't working quite as well as I hoped it would. I still have 3 more days as a non-owner and they are going agonizingly slow. Team Apollo were most gracious showing the old man around today. Joey Hand gave us all some insight on the teams BOP hurdles. He said that even with less HP and torque the GT is as fast as the other cars on a clean lap that's traffic free. But there is always trafffic and when you get bottled up and need to get around other cars the lack of power (and I assume the extra ballast) make it tough.

Is it Tuesday yet??

Chip

Hi Mr. Beck,
It was great to talk with you the other day. Your pictures show a
vibrant and strong man. That comes from the gas station business.
Tuesday will come-- it always has and always will.
I am anxious to see pictures of your new GT-- inside and out.
I am hoping to get the Dan Gurney Heritage GT.
Best of luck passing the next few days.
Best wishes.

Classic, putting the big hex on the Ferrari. Go Team Ford. Tuesday will be here before your know it and will forget all about the long wait.

If there is a 'Top 10 List' for a "Tread of the Year" this one is right there at the top.
Just looking like a bunch of fun no doubt about it.
Glad to see you all having a great time. Keep the posts coming please.........:thumbsup

2 days to go.

Gentlemen,

After qualifying yesterday we ran into Dirk Mueller on pit row. This has to be one of the most personable teams in top level racing. Crew and drivers always seem to be happy to stop and talk when they have time. Ford qualified 2 & 5. Only tomorrow counts though. Unless you're me. Then both tomorrow and Tuesday count.

Chip

"Cheer up"? If anything Chip needs to cheer down. He has been high fiving, first bumping, hand shaking, baby kissing, butt slapping (only the ladies), bear hugging everyone on the Monterey peninsula. He has never met a stranger while here. Everyone here knows who he is and that he is getting a BRAND NEW 2017 FORDT GT IN SPEED YELLOW, VIN # H034. His infectious smile never ends and is ear to ear. The analogy of a child on Christmas morning fails to adequately express the pure joy that is beaming from this guy's heart and face. He is an amazing ambassador for the NGT and he doesn't even have his yet. I can only imagine what he will do when he finally takes delivery of his NGT. I just came to watch the race and have been fortunate enough to witness all this.

You never know....

......who you're gonna run into.

Standing at the top of the corkscrew and I get slapped on the back. I turn around and it's Henry Ford III. He just got in and came straight here. Pretty cool.

And we ran into him on his way back from the corkscrew. I gotta hand it to him, he just walked up and down the corkscrew instead of taking the shuttle. For those of you who have never done it, it's no walk in the park.

I suspect you will enjoy your new ride. Congrats!

Well.....

Gentlemen,

While this wasn't the result any of us were looking for I had a fine time. Tomorrow morning I'll head south down the coast on the final leg of this trek. Sitting up high looking down on the majority of Laguna Seca it was clear that the Ford GT's didn't have the power to overtake anybody. BOP effectively nullified any superiority in design. IMSA is a business and they can run it as they see fit. If they have a set of rules that everybody must abide by it's a competition like the UFC. If there is an ever changing set of standards that are different for each competitor to keep it "close" they are putting on a show like professional wrestling. The results are managed. I know that manufacturers would get frustrated if they lost consistently. I was a Phoenix Suns fan when the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan were almost unbeatable. But when you did beat them it meant something. You didn't beat them because they put increasingly heavy ankle weights on Michael Jordan. But then, perhaps I'm unrealistic.

The GT is the best car here. The GT drivers are amoung the best of the best. Stage managing wins by handicapping the best cars and drivers deminishes the value of a win and decreases the sting of a loss. Not a good thing either way in this old man's opinion.

Off to Rancho Santa Margarita in the morning. Cheers.

Chip
