Ever have a problem with people touching your car?

My friend called me up today and said he was standing in front of a silver (black stripes) GT (Galleria area downtown Houston, if it matters), he rants and raves, I die a little inside because I'm not in the right place again, BUT then he tells me that someone went up and actually started touching the car.

My friend, being an equally fanatic car enthusiast, told the woman to not touch the car, and the only response she gave was "well, is it yours?" In a sarcastic tone.

This made me think about the people who actually own one. Do you all (ah heck, I'm from Texas), Do you ya'll have problems with people touching the car when you go somewhere? I know you get hoards of people but, does anyone ever try and actually touch the car? That's just a scary thought to me, if I heard someone doing that to my truck I would flip.

I had some low-life slut sit on the front bumper, hike up her skirt and spread her legs. Does that sort of behavior qualify?

Yeah

I was at the Pavillions with AZGT a couple weeks ago. Larry was talking to a friend whose 3 year old sat down on the curb about 4 feet from the back of my yellow GT. I started hearing a pinging noise and looked over to see the little boy throwing rocks at my GT. When I said WOAHHH, his mom ran over, picked him up, and split without saying a word to me. The stones were small and my 50 year old eyes could not see any damage. Watch the kids!!

Wow. That is really impressive.

Ahh post the story Empty!!!

You really have to watch people..they love to look with their freakin hands...We had some guys once reach in the engine compartment and start rocking the car by the upper mount...Usually if your nice about it they apologize for getting out of hand...

But you still have to watch...more than hands ....WATCHES and BELT BUCKLES scare the crap out of me.

And that's why I always carry a camera !:banana

We used to have a "Drive your cool car to work" Friday occasionally and in general it went well. The time I drove the GT, there were groups of guys around the car all day and I can not believe how the majority of them had to touch the car in some way. Even worse than the touching, is the fact that our badges are on lanyards around our necks and many were allowing the swinging badges to hit the car and drag along the car.... I was going nuts. That afternoon I get a page up in my office from a co-worker telling me that there are 12 guys standing around my car touching it etc. I asked him to politely request that they not touch the car, and when he did he was almost strung up! The car has never gone back again to "Drive your cool car to work Friday".

While I don't own a GT, I have been around plenty of rare and amazing cars. It goes back to being young, and my dad taking me to cruise nights. He always told me to Look BUT DON'T TOUCH!! That has stayed with me today. When I take my custom 06 Mustang GT to shows, I always have my keys in my pocket (fully, not hanging out) and have my hands behind my back. The things I see at shows just amaze me. People have no common courtesy for other people's property. :frown

Empty, I just sent you a PM. Would love to hear that story, if you don't mind.:thumbsup

Doesn't Phoenix have a zoo yet, if so when do they feed the alligators?

:eek :rofl

this guy shoots like Shue drives... amazing, never have seen anything like it.
amazing piece:biggrin

At a carshow this summer, I saw a guy--gold chains, shirt unbuttoned to his navel, pointy-toe boots, and a HUGE gold nugget watch-- leaning on the GT trying to impress his bimbette girlfriend. I started rapidly moving that way. He saw me and slinked off. Later that night in the garage under the fluorescent lights, sure enough, I saw a blemish where the watch had been. Luckily, it polished out. Most people at the show were respectful and I would open the driver's door for those to get a good look at the interior. Oh well, it's just a car. :ack

some people touch the cars ... I cant stand it, but I feel like such a dick having to tell them not to touch it , they always seem to get offended. A few night ago we went to dinner, came out to find a short middleaged woman with a huge coat on and a purse trying to look in the engine window glass, she was leaned all the way onto the car , purse on car , LEGS IN THE AIR< LAYING ON STOMACH !!! ( almost crawling on car ) - needless to say I got on to her real strong , really quick.

I had a guy lean against the viper once , talking with his friends ... what was he thinking ?
