Trust in your name huh? And we drive slow eh? LOL

Yes. I'm convinced the Canadian retirees and snow birds here think speed limit 50 = 50kph. And, they are so paranoid about red light cameras, they wait a full five seconds after the light turns green, just to be sure.

Everytime I hear/read similar comments, I flash back to the 1st time I went down to my daughter's place in Arizona (in 2000).

I was driving my rental car on the '101' doing 60 or 65 (whatever the speed limit was...[maybe 5 over]) in the right lane. I could tell that Kim (my daughter) was getting 'up tight' about something, and she finally blurted out; "Dad! You're driving like a Blue Hair!!! Lemme 'splain the DRIVING RULES down here! On the freeway - TEN OVER...MINIMUM! PREFERABLY 15...on surface streets, AT LEAST 10 over - OR YOU'LL BE RUN OVER! 'ONLY exception? School zones. In school zones you WILL do 15 m.p.h. or you WILL get a ticket. Period. Any questions? Now, COME ON!!! SHEEEEEEEZE!" :rofl:rofl:rofl

Maybe you can tell "she's her father's daughter"?!

Re: Canadian drivers...Wifey and I live near the Canadian border, so we see a LOT of Canadians on the road around here. I have c-o-n-s-i-s-t-a-n-t-l-y observed three things with regard to their driving: (1) they have only TWO speeds - flat out or crawling. Speed limit signs are just curios, evidently, (2) often they'll turn in either direction from ANY lane, and (3) they like to get into the passing lane and PACE the guy in the right lane mile after mile after mile after mile. :mad

What follows is a true story, I swear to God:

Two Canadian cars were traveling about a mile ahead of me on I-5 as we approached the exit I was going to take. THEY took that exit...AND CAME TO A FULL STOP SIDE-BY-SIDE RIGHT AT THE MOUTH OF IT - BLOCKING IT - TO SIT AND "B.S." ABOUT GOD-ONLY-KNOWS-WHAT!!! 'Dead serious here, people. That IS exactly what they did. Knowing I'd be rear-ended if I came to a stop ON THE FREEWAY behind them, I approached the exit ON THE SHOULDER with my horn BLOWING non-stop. One of the drivers stuck his head out of the window yelled something at me in Chinese ('guess he figured I wouldn't need a translator!) and with that, BOTH drivers pulled right back out onto the freeway AT A SNAIL'S PACE - RIGHT IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING SEMI.

'NEVER seen two bigger M-O-R-O-N-S behind the wheel in my life...and I've seen more than a few. (The ONLY reason those two clowns weren't turned into instant road kill was the fact that the semi driver somehow KNEW what the fools were about to do and he changed lanes J-U-S-T before they did it. 'Darned lucky the left lane was clear.)

'Sure glad I'm perfeckt.

I'm dunn now.

I agree with everything Xcentric said about Canadian drivers, but to be fair, I'd take them over the suicidal maniacs in Miami any day.

They yell at me all the time, but I don't speak Spanish. I think they might be telling me to enjoy my stay in Miami.

"Dude", did I say ALL Canadians drive like that? NO. I didn't. I outlined what I've consistantly SEEN "a lot" of them do. And I won't "walk it back" as 'they' say these days. I've seen what I've seen.

They only drive like that when you're around

'Baseless assumption since you've obviously never witnessed same.

- ya musta done somethin' to piss 'em off.

See above.

Where did I say you did?

...hell my 78 yr old mom did 80 in a 60...

I rest my case. She falls into the "flat out...speed limit signs are curios" category!

Have you considered what they might say about your driving style?? :rofl:rofl

Everybody knows I don't drive!

Actually, the departure tax thing is somewhat misunderstood by many, from my understanding anyway.

This is how it has been explained to me by the tax specialists at our accounting firms:

In my case, I would dispose of all my assets / business etc...and convert to cash.

Taxes get paid as if I had done just that, and stayed here. Things that are not taxable while living here don't get taxed if I decide to sell and move. Capital gains/ losses are the same on assets whether you liquidate, or decide to keep them in the event that you leave. Cars, personal possessions, etc...things that are not taxable while living here, are also not taxable when sold and moving away. In my case, better to dispose of all assets, pay the taxes and go.

I have a few friends who have made the move - they all tell me the same thing as my accountants.

In any case, I've had enough of this province, especially after this last idiot, Nazi premier in Quebec, and I have had enough of this country, the lousy medical care and 50% personal tax rate. I feel the warmth beckoning! LOL

Looks like you have it all under control, when you sell all those assets, give me a call about the 05 in the wrapper.

Personally, I'm planning on Nevada (Southern), Lots of open roads that actually have curves and hills. But if you like driving in a straight line, Florida is great.

And yes when Shitler ( She Hitler) got in to power, I said ...See Ya..I'm outta here.

If you think that pricing on our FGTs is getting a bit over the top, take a look at this.

Proof positive that there are people out there with more money than brains!

Vintage Aston prices are totally out of control, they are up to 10 times what they were just a decade ago.

Taxes in Nevada were one of the influencers of relocating here. Sales tax is 8.1% at the local home depot, property taxes seem reasonable - our new place is about 2K / year, and no state income tax. I think the tags on my cars will be similar to Colorado although I think the GT will be cheaper.

Booze is dirt cheap also!

Given what appears to be a continuing rise in prices, I'm glad I bought mine last month--and regret not buying one a year ago! I hope prices stabilize soon, because if a street driven GT gets to be a half-million dollar collector's trinket, I'll be tempted to sell it and get something I won't mind risking on the street so much.

Hey Pete,
I bought mine almost exactly a year ago and I agree with the risk statement...but there is NOTHING out there that compares to the GT (in my mind).

My Corvette is the everyday drive it and beat on it occasionally answer knowing I can get another one just like it tomorrow if needed. The GT being extemley difficult to replace will get driven 3-4 time a month to keep it fresh and satisfy the GT fix. I plan on the major GT miles to come every year at the Rally and hope to top the 850 miles at last years Rally in Vegas. Never say never but I cannot imagine any price that selling would be an option.
