No clue, other than so you can't buy and off the shelf thread eyelet.

Most, if not all, are. I'm sure it's for safety.

How is right vs. left thread any safer, there isn't any rotation of the part under use?

It's left thread so nothing else gets screwed in except the toe hook.

Since we're all guessing, maybe it's the twist in some tow ropes?

Except for the super cool licence plate bracket I have.... That I use once a year to get an inspection sticker.....

"Because Mr. Ferrari wanted it that way."

Oh, wait. Wrong car. Wrong subject.

That's what I use my tow hook for. Bent a couple of pieces of flat aluminum stock from Lowe's and bolted them together. Shockingly though, I have yet to be harrassed for no front plate.

A former poster here had these things made, and sold them, very slick aluminum threaded post, and a flat plate that the plate attaches to. Was extremely well done. I had planned on the same thing cutting up a tow hook, this came along and saved the effort. I keep it and the plate, in the storage pockets, if I were to be stopped, I could put the plate on in 30 seconds.

Something you never had to worry about, being your cars never leave the garage.

I have several cars with no front plate and have for nearly 20 years. Only one pull over and fix it ticket. Non-moving violation. Nothing but a tax to not totally ruin the cars so I happily paid it and kept going plateless.

Don't worry, I agree with you that it is just another revenue source as you have mentioned on other threads.

Yeeeeeeeeeew don't live up here, Doc! You live down south.

I can even give you the actual names of 2 LEOs who'd ticket you on sight. ('Related to Barney Fife, me thinks...)

Is that why your cars never leave the garage? The LEO have it out for you?
