This was suppose to be completed one year ago..and at a fraction of the actual cost. One thing for sure,I do not plan on doing another full off restoration in this lifetime. Although the result is really nice and I will probably forget the frustration in working with a few "restoration" artists once she arrives back in her proper cage....:biggrin
Here is the description: (pic attached)
1965 Sunbeam Tiger Mk1. Vin# B9471157. TAC inspected by STOA. TAC#678. Rotisserie Factory-Original Prepared Restoration. I purchased this Tiger from the original owner and retains all matching numbers (engine, transmission, rear differential) from the factory. I decided on a few Minor Upgrades include aluminum radiator with 6-blade fan, Replacement Lockheed Brake Booster, Ford Motorsport oil filter angle adapter, "Traction Master" Bolt-on Traction Bars, Pertronix pointless ignition system (lurks hidden, retains original appearance), and the LAT Edelbrock 4FB intake manifold with 4-barrel Holley Carburetor. Performance camshaft enhances original Ford 260 V8 to match the porting of the LAT Intake Upgrade. Engine Cooling upgrade installed retaining original fan shroud.
Any transporter recommendations would be appreciated. I have a call into Debra at Hog Haulers..this is a northern California pickup and Florida dropoff..Thanks:thumbsup

Well..it has been a few years since my green MK1 Tiger was finished and sold..I regretted the sale almost immediately and started to search for a more rare Tiger at that time ..an MKII. The MKII was made for one year only and was upgraded with a Ford 289 , oil cooler, wheel trim ,eggcrate grill etc..Only 536 originally produced..I found a one owner car in NM and proceeded to have her restored as close as possible to her original state.
She made it home yesterday and I thought you might all appreciate seeing what was fondly known as "a poor man's cobra"..She now resides in her Fl cage. She will be shown at the www.bocaratonconcours.com on 2/27.

I have never seen a Tiger without the Headlight eyebrows, or lack of side chrome strip.

Good observation. Two distictive differences between the MK1 and MKII,
Sunbeam Tiger. Production reached 7,085 cars over three distinct series (the factory only ever designated two, the Mark 1 and Mark 2; however, since the official Mark 1 production spanned the changeover in body style from the Series IV Alpine panels to the Series V panels, the later cars are generally designated Mark 1A by current Sunbeam Tiger enthusiasts). Mark 2 production totaled just 536 cars, and these Tigers, with the 200 hp (150 kW) 289 cu in (4.7 L) engine, are rare today.

I need to find some comparison pictures to flesh this out. Thanks

The nose of the Tiger have always reminded me of the 55,6,7 T'birds. Always liked the Tigers...

We attended the Gold Coast British car show yesterday in Boca Raton. I was amazed by the number of people that were so familiar with the Tiger and relative history. Although there were only 3 in attendance( lots of triumphs.mg , jags , loti and minis and a beautiful TVR )) we did take first place in our class....overall a really nice day and shared the Tiger story with many many enthusiasts. Off to Boca Raton Concours next week.

My father had two Tigers when he was in college. A 65 and a 66. He said he liked the 65 best because the body panels had rounded vs pointed corners and the shift lever was shorter. He said the tops were a pain the put down and up so the 65 was used with the tonneau cover on good weather days and the 66 on the other days. He really liked those cars.

We attended the Concours d' elegance yesterday in Boca Raton. Our Tiger displayed in the Foreign Sports 1960-86. class This was a large field (over 30 cars) and some really beautiful cars (Ferraris, Jags, Porsches, Healeys.Mercedes,Aston and more), However, at the end of the day our Tiger took 3rd in class and 3rd as peoples choice. We were thrilled with the reception to our Tiger MKII. Pics to follow....

Nice work Stewart. Your car was lovely and it was nice seeing you and your wife again. My 1939 Caddy didn't fair quite as well in the competition, being surrounded by 3 pre-war Duesenbergs, a one off 1931 V16 Cadillac, and some other lovely cars.
Hope to see you again soon.
