Frankly, I don't think Tesla will make it as a company. They are just as tight lipped and in the dark as GM, Ford and Chrysler. This is not something a start up can be. They seem to think customers will just come running to them and, just like the other companies, they think there is an endless supply of new customers.
The roadster is a great car, but absolutely not something practical and for the masses. I really enjoy mine, don't get me wrong, and I recommend it to a car guy for the fun and uniqueness of it. But only to those that can truly afford it.
Nothing I have read or heard leads me to believe that the model S will be any more of a daily driver or that the current issues will get resolved in the model S. The model S is supposed to be a daily driver, something that a family can depend on day in and day out. I did not and probably won't order a model S and I know of other Roadster owners that feel the same as I do. If your current customers won't by your new products, you have a problem.
I hope they do make it, but they need to work harder to make current owners happy and resolve issues. Be forthcoming with information rather then letting rumors take hold.
Right now Tesla is a novelty, if they don't get serious, they will be gone when the novelty wears off.
Either way, I have one and plan to keep it. If Tesla fails, maybe it will be worth something some day.
