My paint correction friend cringes at the idea of dry washing!

I have the cheapskate spotless water system. A dedicated 2 gallon garden sprayer filled with distilled water. I did add a tire type air valve so I do not need to pump it up.

Works very well used as a final rinse and no spots. I also use distilled water when cleaning the engine bay with an air powered nozzle. Again clean with no spots or residue.

Considering the cost of the system and replacement cartridges/resin, you are probably the smartest guy here.

Dry wash has risks

There are just certain rubber seals that need water run on them to clean

My wipers stained my windshield because the rubber wasn't being washed !

Never heard of either???
Rubber needs water?
Windshield wiper stain?
Is that an East Coast requirement?

What is a dry wash? Are you spraying a solution onto a microfiber cloth and then wiping down the car?

What solution do you use to do that?

Or is it something else?

I need to replace the resin in my CR Spotless system. I recall someone on the forum said they had a less expensive source for the resin. Anyone remember where to get the stuff?

I remember seeing that too, but I can't find it with search. How much have you used yours? I've done about a dozen washes/rinses and the meter still reads zero.

I've used mine about 2 dozen times. The ppm meter is still below 10, but I'm sure I will need resin shortly.

Thanks. Hopefully he will chime in.

Careful, Paul. Once the PPM meter budges at all from 000, it rises VERY quickly. Next thing you know, you're in the middle of rinsing your car and it's above 20, car still covered in soap. Ask me how I know.....:frown

When ever mine even starts to rise, I change it out. Could probably get another good wash out of it, but I'm not taking that chance again.

Is this stuff as good as what you get from Spotless water system?

Color of the resin is different but it performs exactly the same. I still have 2 full refill bags from CR that I haven't used if anyone wants to buy them from me:)

I thought the resin was rechargeable using salt.

Water softener resins are regenerated with NaCl. This mixed bed total deionizer stuff is supposedly non-regenerable, although some say they do it with muriatic acid.

i.e. Not worth the hassle and cost.
