As I assume many of you know, Michelin is coming out with a new tire to better the PS2. The 1st offering on this tire is on the Ferrari 458. The tire is coming out at the "retail" level, in April ish. Yesterday I called the "866" number, and spoke to someone. Sadly they are not going to make a rear. I am sure this does not shock anyone.

HOWEVER, he did say he was going to put in a "tire request". So anyone that might have the time, to also request they make tires for us, give them a shout, number is 866-866-6605. I currently run R6's but would be nice to have the correct size "normal" tire available. I have used several PS2 and really liked them, and these are suposed to go way beyond the PS2, as that was their benchmark.

Also if anyone "knows" anyone at Michelin, maybe we can help our cause that way, I have tried some channels, but have come up dry.

Sorry for the new thread on tires, but did not want this in lost in The Tire Thread.

Check tirerack.com they have 2 sizes available (and have been available for months). I know they are not GT sizes. I am anxiously awaiting sizes in April for my Benz, my rears are balllllld

The rears seem like they would fit well with a 20" rim, but the fronts are too wide. I wonder what would be a good match for the SS rears.

Yes, i think the 2 sizes currently available are for the 458. Broader release is April. Widest 19" they currently have planned is a 305, according to the call I had yesterday

The 285 and 315 sizes tirerack.com has are not for the 458. They are for the 599 GTO per the Ferrari website.

I do know some folks from Michelin here in Akron, in fact did some consulting for them in the past. I'll float the idea past them and update the thread if anything turns up.

Good find, learned a little more about modern tires. Wouldn't it be nice if they made GT sizes.

I would rather see a stock size rear Mich. Pilot Sport Cup tire. Super sticky, rain safe great on the track or street. I run them in the front and love'em

Why not run Hoosiers on the fronts too? Do you find that the Mich. Pilot Sport Cup tire work better in the dry, or are you running that setup also in the rain and using the fronts to clear some of the water for the rears?

I run Cups on the front and R6's on the rear. If I happen to get caught in some rain I want to be able to drive faster than 10 miles an hour. The Cups are great front tires.

Yep !! and we get a little rain here in Florida. :biggrin The Grip level on the cups is very high, very close if not equal to the hoosier for all practical purposes

Here are some pilot super sport sizes according to a recent Porsche magazine. Do you think some of these would work for a GT running 19s and 20s?
