A couple. Rich Brooks, Roketman, Jason Heffner. I've offered to let my wife, but she's afraid a meteor will fall on it and I'll blame her. :biggrin

Roketman has driven it the most besides me, but it was just highway driving. I've driven my own car probably 21,300 miles, and probably have 5,000+ miles driving other peoples GT's. I've driven all of Camilo's cars significant distances, Greg Miller's, Gordon Wolf's, Kent Jordan's GTX1, etc. I always appreciate other people letting me drive their cars, and have no problem letting people I trust drive mine.

These cars are to be enjoyed and for me not much is more enjoyable than sharing the experience with another person. I have let countless others drive my car, some with me along as a passenger and some without.

I must admit that a few times as a passenger I was nervous. The only time I had a little problem was when at the launch party for the Porsche turbo I let a complete stranger to me drive the car and he backed into a retaining wall and crunched the rear diffuser. He was embaressed and offered to pay for it but I doubt that he knew how much they cost. I fixed it but did not give him a call about it, I did not want to try to explain to him why the things were so expensive. I think that some of the best times that I have had with the GT is when letting others experience it. You guys are missing out if you don't share these cars with others not fortuate enough to have one.

Gentlemen,

One of the best experiences I've had in my car was with Roketman Ron driving on the track at VIR and me in the passenger seat. His speed was effortless and I felt totally secure as we passed EVERYBODY. He drove his own GT quite a bit faster than he drove mine as I have no track insurance. Ron is not a wildman on the track, he's just very good. Never pass up a chance to ride with or drive with Roketman. It will inspire you.

I agree these cars are to be enjoyed! My car has been driven by my partner John Hennessey, a few auto magazine editors and Tanner Foust.

Other than my adult sons, who drive my GT's usually with me following in another car to an event, and other GT owners who are experienced, NO, I haven't let others drive my GT's.

Is there a valet mode with the GT? If so, I didn't know.....

Just "BONY"

Midnite Blu has had two drivers only. Nov. 16, 2007 our So.Cal. group drove to Temecula and on to Palm Desert. BONY thought we should trade GT's from T. to the casino. His fine white GT was a pleasure to drive as are the memories of a really good guy. Miss him........Heritage has had only me in the seat.

I have. on the track, with good friends that I have raced with for a long time (very experienced racers). Was in the right seat also. I was happy to share. Other than that? no one. I tell people no traction control, things happen quick, and could take a turn for the worse. Another polerizing question, is, "if you wreck could you afford to fix it".....

I've probably let about 10 friends drive it + the occasional valet guy if he is just backing into a spot.

Friend of mine driving had a F430 stretch his legs next to him on the highway. Made his day.

Only once and that was my wife. She drove it on Route 29 North from Stockton to Frenchtown, NJ. The road is as straight as an arrow and billiard table smooth. She's quite good driving a stick shift but was less than comfortable with the GT's visibility. So at least she can honestly say she drove it which is impressive in most circles regardless of the specifics.

Probably half a dozen or so have driven the car. They have all been car nuts and loved the experience. My brother drove it at VIR in the rain and i am still wiping the smile and drool off his face. I think it was drool??

As for rides, I've given plenty. I used to let anyone sit in the car that asked and I used to freely offer. Then I decided that could be a little risky given the car. But I still like to show the car and let people sit in it or get rides, just not everywhere.

As for drivers, I've let my best friend drive it on a few occasions. He's a private pilot and mechanically skilled. He was the one that instantly bought my '01 BMW M5 so that I would have enough funds to buy the GT, so it wouldn't have been right to not let him drive it and experience it. And after it was lightly modded, I wanted him to experience the enhancements.

Oh, I was curious about track events, if most of you generally allow local instructors to drive your GT's. I'm not talking about the build team or the Ford Factory drivers at rallies, who I would definitely trust and respect, but I mean a local instructor who has perhaps never even sat in a GT. That would worry me and of course might lead to a long line of instructors wanting to drive the car at an event. I wouldn't want to come off as arrogant, but I'd also not want to risk the chance of an incident. Just curious how others view it, since we're on the topic. I wasn't sure if it's generally expected, but in this day of limited insurance coverage and exclusions, it might be risky.
