Do you guys think a Shelby Super Snake will hold their value

I think the dark horse in this is the Shelby Mustang GT. Made in 2007 and 2008 only. Less powerful then the GT500 but handles better and they actually came out of the SAI facility and produced in far fewer numbers then the GT500. Of course this is all out the window if SAI makes new Shelbhy Mustang GTs.

Any appreciation (if any) in value will probably be seen by my grandchildren or great grand kids.

Anyway, didn't buy it for investment but for enjoyment and it is a fun car. Its pretty fast and makes all the right sounds and handles decent and looks great. My son LOVES the fricken thing too!

I've found buying used BMW's (2-3 years old) to be an effective strategy.

Let someone else take the hit next time.

This car was selling for $100K only 3 years ago. The only thing that should get gold plated is its rapid loss - 50-60% loss... Sorry Randy...

Doesn't bother me, I don't currently own a BMW. My Dinan Mini Cooper S, Stage II, has the highest possible residual rating of any car, I bought it used (2 years old).

This is what the 2006 M5s are selling for...

Base '06 M5 MSRP was $81,200, with a decent level of standard equipment.

I'm a former SEC Registered Representative (Portfolio Investment Specialist) and I'd never seen it called simply SP500, so I missed the reference completely also.

Absolutely no disrespect, but I noticed those initials are "PIS" .... and looking at my stock portfoloio is quite accurate!

BTW, I would not put too much stock in Kelly Blue Book either. Last I heard they were being sued.

What's a recommended source? NADA, Edmunds?

I hadn't heard about the lawsuit against KBB.

Fortunately, I served as a investment specialist until 2001, when financials were really good. I worked for Schwab, so absolutely no conflicts of interest with clients.

Yeah, it's been a rough recent 2 years. I hear ya. The FORD GT is my best investment then and now.

Pays me back every time I look at her. :banana

Manheim has something called Internet MMR. I find that to be the most accurate on a weekly basis. Not available to the public, but just let me know Randy and I'll get you any information you need.

Thanks Sam. BTW, I stopped by my local cadillac dealer today.

Hot damn. The CTS-V is pretty incredible. Sounds great, looks good inside and out. I was really impressed with the interior. Thunder Gray exterior looked nice too, and it looked a lot better in person than in pics.

I can be patient though - as I would have to sell some vehicles and convince my wife also. The dealer had listed a $2K ADM on the window. It was an auto with the basic seats.

Did you get yours Sam?

My wife asked, "Cadillac? Isn't that from the 70's?"

Like you Randy, the CTS-V has been on my radar also....but figure waiting a bit cannot hurt, plus the wifey thing. :bored
Have not made a trip to my local Caddy dealer yet, why play to temptation?
Have only seen one on the road, done in white. Would not have imagined white would have looked so awesome on that size body and shape. Man, was I wrong. :thumbsup

Local dealer I went to said, that zero financing is not available.

Yeah, I can definitely wait.

Looks great though. It'd be hard to figure out which way to go, manual or auto, since the auto is actually a nice one. I've always gone manual whenever the choice presented itself.

Randy, I would look into leasing it under the storage facility. Make sure the monthly payments are high and the residual is very low. Who knows who may buy it at the end of the lease:wink.

The CTS-V is on my short list of cars to replace my CL65 AMG, which is going away in July when the lease ends.

I would recommend anyone looking at these spectacular new 4 door ZR1's wait a couple of months. When GM files Ch 11, prices will plummet!

BTW.....I challenge any BMW in a depreciation duel with my CL65...I guarantee I'll win! That's why I leased it when it was a year old. Totally worth it, since it was basically half the cost of leasing a new one.....and that turbo V12 rush is unparalleled in the automotive world.

Hopefully one of us So-Cal'ers will buy a CTS-V and bring it to the May 30th gathering. I wish it were gonna be me, but I don't have positive cash flow right now.

Gentlemen,

This thread has strayed about as far afield from the original topic as is possible without bringing up gay marrage.

I stay away from that topic, I live in an area where I would be in deep sh-t, if I took an unpopular view.
