Windshield Wiper Problems?

Driving to school today it started raining. My windshield wipers only work on max setting now. Could it be a relay? Anyone else had the same issue?

Check your front trunk and make sure it is not open. This is a warning as stated in the owner's manual.

Note: They will not work at all if the trunk is not closed correctly. Safety feature to prevent damage.

I cannot explain why, but after I have had my wipers off the car for a while, and then put them back onto the car, it takes a few minutes before they run at any setting except max. And with the wipers off, they cycle only in max and this makes it a bit more a chore to get them on correctly.

It was the trunk. I think my sensor for the trunk needs to adjusted. I will slam it shut and my trunk light will stay off, but eventually it will come on and I need to reshut the trunk.

Weird that the windshield wipers will work in max mode but not the other modes with the trunk sensor activated.

the wipers work very well. Near Salt Lake City on the way to Rally III.
