Modern forensics are good and in the heat of the moment no time to check if for video cameras or potential eye witnesses. Best course of action in many states included CA is to let him walk and collect some insurance money. Besides would you want the car anymore with blood and guts and a bullet hole in it? The insurance probably wouldn't even cover the cleanup and repairs, since you did the damage yourself.

What I would like to do and do are not always the same, because there are laws of man and nature, as Bony would put it.

Thanks for the great, heart-warming story. A couple dollars for bullets vs. $100,000's for attorneys, courts, incarceration, etc. Add Georgia to the list of States that have open season on car jackers...at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :cheers

Personally a remote kill switch gets more distance between me and their gun. Let them have the car my life is worth more. And the kill switch puts a quick end to the televised high speed chases that seem to popular in the republic of Kalifornia.:ack:frown:devil

Sitting here in our easy chairs and analyzing what we would do in this situation makes it very easy to say let him have the car, I have insurance, I don't want to get blood on the car, yada yada yada... But I suspect it would be very different in real life where the adrenaline is flowing, your heart is racing and you have to make a split second decision as he gets into your car. Do you really want to stand there and let some scumbag wipe his feet on you, make you feel like a coward and take one of your most valued possessions without a fight?

My sense of right and wrong would have me cleaning the blood off the seats the next day.

I guess my signature line is very apt here.:lol

I was involved as a victim of road rage. Interesting and life changing event. Totally unprovoked, in a very safe area, by a wacked out junkie. Scared my wife to death. 10pm on a 4th of July night, after we were selling fireworks all day for Rotary. No alcohol in my system, had I had a couple of Makers Marks in me, I might have reacted in another way.
I did nothing, never left my car. Just called the police... Had I done anything, I would have lost...
