Is there an oil besides the Motorcraft oil that is recommended for use in the supercharger? What say the forum experts?

I found that GM supercharger oil #12345982 is the same oil for nearly 1/2 the price.

Interesting question and valid.
How did you ascertain the two fluids are "the same"? Did you get spec sheets on both?

In all fairness to Ford, the Motorcraft oil does have a jazzier name and a better looking bottle.

Thanks!

I was pretty sure you had a sound basis for stating equality....

I don't think the manual gives a change interval, but the GT500 supercharger oil is good for 100k miles. I have no reason to believe the GT is different. The GT manual states the oil level should be checked every 30k miles. It wouldn't be a bad idea to change it at 10 years or so regardless of mileage. My oil had 7k on it and appeared ok.

Only the draining is automatic, you still need to fill it up manually.

There was a batch of bad seals but with a new seal, these units are very good and do not leak.
