On this Veterans Day I would like to recognize all members of this Forum who served in any capacity at any time in our Armed Forces. I know we have quite a few members who are veterans and on this day, we would like to know who you are. Please post up, don't be shy, and let us know what branch of our armed forces you served in and when.

I know there is a rumor circulating about me serving in the Spanish-American War but it is somewhat exaggerated. Actually, I was a weekend warrior, belonging to the California Army National Guard and The California Air National Guard for a total of six years. The closest I ever came to combat was fighting weekend traffic in and out of Los Angeles.

My hat is off to those who have served and are serving on active duty.

Marines, 1983-1989~1991 8651 (among others), went bump in the night a lot. It is better to give than to receive ..... fire that is. :lol

It actually transpired in Dam Neck, Va, and aboard a DE off the coast of a small island in Hawaii that the USN uses as a naval gun range. But, I can certainly understand how a delusional soul like yourself formed an erroneous opinion of such grand proportions. :tap:

I would never compare myself to the awesome responsibility of a soldier, however, I have proudly served (note: did not say served in) all branches of the Armed Forces and a handful of three and four letter agencies in one form or another as a civil servant, consultant or contractor.

US Navy active duty 74 to 80 then Navy Reserve 80 to present. Served aboard the aircraft carriers Enterprise and Ranger. Spent most of the last 20 years in the reserves as a Naval Officer working with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Trident Submarine Base at Bangor Washington - just got back from a 3 week "vacation" in Diego Garcia. Still doing it! Ed


As a side note - to anyone who watched the new Transformers movie and saw the base in Diego Garcia - that is NOT Diego Garcia!
