Engine number

The VIN is stamped into the back of the LH head on the engine. The VIN is stamped into the chassis behind the RH front inner fender on an extrusion at the rear of the fender opening (hard to get to)and it is stamped onto the extrusion that is under the rear diffuser on the LH side.

Rich! Thanks a lot you have saved me a ton of time at the customs - they were looking for the engine # for 3 hours.
I have finally received my car and will post a full story tonight - I had a dyno test done at the customs (russian road tax is a derivative of engine HP) and the car dynoed 1098 crank HP on pump gas (I wish I had a tune in the SCT that would have set boost to 2 PSI or something, or turned it off) - now I will have to pay 7k$/year road tax :( I was hoping they wouldnt find that the car was tuned and I would only get 558 HP in my title :(

Too bad you didn't know about the dyno test sooner. You can detune the car to whatever level you want. I once, by accident had programmed the ecu to always bypass boost and the car felt like maybe 350 HP vs. the 732 HP that I got on the dyno. Only a Whipple, no TT.

If you can't afford the tax you can't afford the toy.

Afer spending three weeks in Russia and seeing the third world conditions that millions of people live under I find it impossible to make sport of.

Glad the forum helped you. Hope ypu support it.

Here in Washington State, a member of the legislature recently proposed a similiar tax based on the cubic inches of a vehicle's engine. This tax would have been paid IN ADDITION to existing vehicle taxes. THAT PROPOSAL WAS SHOT DOWN IN FLAMES by the public. It was reported that this member's email & phone service was just SWAMPED by angry callers. He later tried to claim his proposal was simply ment to, "...initiate discussion", on effective methods of reducing fuel consumption.

I love it when the gov't attempts social engineering via taxes.

Alex, glad you got the car and figured everything out with customs. Sorry that the car dyno'd such high numbers (never thought I would have to appologize for that) and caused you to pay more taxes, but atleast the car puts down the power (or more) that you expected. Treat my baby right and post pics and story ASAP!!! :thumbsup

Here are the locations of the VIN that is stamped into the frames. The duct tape is covering the last few numbers. We don't want to give away all of our secrets.

Has anyone ever seen their actual engine serial number on their engine? I don't mean the VIN.

According to GT Tech on this thread: http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5055

One label is on the oil tank, and one is on the right front of the motor, just below the valve cover. You should be able to see the oil tank one fairly easy, although you may have to use a mirror.

The engine serial number is likely etched several places internally and externally but these stickers that GT Tech mentions are the likeliest places to see the serial #.

HP TAX????!!! Come on! That is nuts. It is guys who can afford these cars that are helping the economy in most likely all cases. You need to make money to spend money. I am sure that he pays enough in other tax, corporate and/or personal to more than compensate for a HP tax.
Please DO NOT tell anyone in Canada about this. We are more socialist than in Russia.
Alex 911 my condolences.

It is not really HP tax - it is Road tax that is calculated based on the HP of the car. I don't really mind it since personal income tax is only 13% flat rate here :)

That is awesome! I'd pay $7k road tax as opposed to our income tax rate any day!

Welcome to the club Alex! Look forward to some more interesting posts pics and vids from you!
