Can any body tell me approx. how much I should pay for two new rear tires mounted, balanced, etc. I did a quick check on the internet and tirerack.com has the tires for $309.00 plus shipping. Also has anybody heard of putting nitro in the tires?

I think you mean to Nitrogen gas. I farse except that it tends to be drier (less water content) than typical compressed air.

There are some old posts here about N2 in the tires and where to get it. Please do a search. Buying the tires is not the problem - getting them mounted by a high speed balance shop may be hard. Supposedly Porsche dealers have access to very high speed balancing equipment if nothing else. My Ford dealer can only balance to 150 mph.
