The 599 did move early.... but it is just a little bit faster than a stock GT...

Ya the 599 has a claimed 620 hp (with the Enzo motor) and about the same weight as the GT. I have never seen the power curve so it could still be relatively slow in a drag (but it didn't look slow).

about the same weight as the GT.

Actually the 599 is 3800 lbs; at least 400 lbs heavier than a GT, yet they trap 130 in the quarter mile. Damn impressive for a heavy luxo tourer.

Be nice, it was my first time at a strip. No one told us what to do with the tree, so we both rolled a little past where we should have.
I ran a 5.7-something, my buddy ran a 5.36ish in the 330. Earlier in the day we did some runs from ~20-130 and the GT was a little faster (accufab exhaust and a tune from Torrie).

We didn't get ET or MPH, they were only recording up to 330' because of water further down the track. My 60' was mid 2, not trying to launch the car.

Agreed! So shut your yap Steve or get out there yourself! :lol

I'm not surprised your car is a little faster with exhaust and tune. I think the 599 is an absolutely amazing car (far better in person than in print), but I never really got on board with the magazine tests, specifically the euro tested cars that showed 130+.

No thanks, I'll just arm chair form here. You see Dave, until I actually go to the track and find out for sure......:bored ....I figure I'm driving a high 9 second car around town.:lol

The 599 is very very cool. The electronics on it are amazing, it was pretty awesome to be driving behind it and watch it fly around turns faster then you would think it ever could. It also sounded awesome, with a nice bang at every upshift. When you get them side to side, you can really tell the 599 is the ultimate GT, and the GT is a little race car.

The guy on the local forum said its your dads cars? Not that it matters but those cars are both cool. How do they compare? What car do you like more?

The 599 is my buddys. They are two different cars, the 599 is something you could drive every day, the GT is a little more difficult to take places(worse visibility, the doors, etc). It was the first time I got to see the 599 and I was very impressed. The GT is a little faster in a straight line, but I'm sure around a track the 599 is quicker, especially in the hands of a non professional driver. If I could, I would buy one for a daily summer driver, unfortunately, I can't.

I believe he just did a normal start, no launch control. I think he had it on race mode for the traction control.
