Rollover - SCCA June Sprints

Ever wonder why the tech folks measure that clearance from top of helmet to roll hoop?? Ouch!

edited for change in venue/event - thanks Steve

Good result for safety.

Bad result for driver(s) especially when passing on a double yellow.

Unless you are short, it almost impossible to get the required clearance in a FGT with the OEM seats.

Thats too bad as Doug (the guy that went upside down) is a really fast FM driver and this is at the June Sprints not the Runoffs

Friend of mine got his head sheared in half in an accident just like Doug's when his Formula Renault flipped and landed and started sliding on the guardrail, Doug missed the guardrail by a foot or so but my friend wasn't so lucky.

I was hoping they were going to show the damage to his helmet. Would really like to know how the Carbon Fiber held up.

Racing with open wheels is tough to say the least. Glad Doug walked away.
