Thanks for the input.

There is a Ford GT salvage for sale in Canada by the same seller of the repaired GT.

It didn't meet reserve at $61K

How much is it to repair one????

Any guesstimates?

He wants $130K for the repaired car and $120K for the salvaged one repaired.

Any comments from you experts????

Why does the pan have to be replaced?

Tnx!

Mike

to give you an Idea, salvaged cars are selling for around 120 to 130k range, even in this economy.

True.

I am just asking for ideas.

Our Canadian dollar is crap now, so I won't buy one soon.

I bought my 00R last July when our dollar was on par with the US dollar.

But......I bought a new truck last week and it was $5000 cheaper here in Canada than the USA. Go figure!

Next year will be different if our dollar is still in the dumps.

Is it a big hassle or expense to buy a car in the U.S. and ship to Canada, or a Canadian car bound for the U.S.? Just curious because of your R car and now there seems to be a few GTs up there that could find a home down here.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, it is a hassle.

I have always wanted a 00R.

So when our dollar went on par last year I bought one on eBay.

4000 miles, like new, no mods. $42K

I want a GT, but there are only a few hundred in Canada. You cannot import a Ford GT into Canada from the USA due to safety issues. ie. Bumpers.

Actually, as of July 2008, you CAN import a GT into Canada. RIV harmonized bumper regs to allow ALL US cars with the 3MPH bumper. So go for it, our dollar came up almost $0.04 yesterday!!!

And it's not really all that big of a hassle. Depends how much homework you do in pre-clearing your car. I brought in my audi several years ago with nary a hassle at all. Not that I want any Canadian GT's going south, we only got 200 to begin with.......but I guess that's offset by the fact that *when* (yes, I'm ever hopeful) our dollar goes back up, we've got the smorgasbord of GT availability from the US.

I will go 4 it when the dollar is on par again.

In Manitoba, our economy is smoking!

Everyone is making lots of money, but it is not to be wasted.

I dunno why our dollar tanked the past weeks.

Just have to be patient.

Mike:

The C$ is a commodity currency and ebbs and flows with oil prices. Run a chart correlating WTI and the C$ and you will see the strong relationship.

As a U of M graduate and native Winnipeger I enjoyed the shots on your web site of the Engineering building coming down. I was a commerce student but due to overcrowding many of our classes were in the engineering building.

I left Canada in the early 80's when Trudeau and his socialist cronies were at the height of their powers and ruining the country. It feels like deja vu all over again down here with Nobama on the verge of assuming power. It may be time to move back soon and with the change in bumper laws I can bring my GT back with me!

Thanks for the kind words.

I made a $25,000.00 donation to the U of M a few years ago. This was to help pay for the new Engineering Building.

Giving back to your community is important to me.

Winnipeg is great! We are so busy, and I could retire 6 years ago when I was 40. Work is just a hobby, but a crazy hobby for sure.

Where do you live now?

I have 3 kids and live in Linden Woods. My oldest is attending Ravenscourt for high school.

Nice 00R. I've had a couple and spent a couple thousand miles at the track with them. Great cars with the best exhaust note ever - better than a GT I swear! Lots of fun at the track if you make some "adjustments."
