Rear Gap Engine Cover & Ding on Front Fender

As a guy, when we look at a pretty girl passing by, we tend to look at something specific (were all different in our likes). When I look at my GT, and others on the road, my eyes go directly to the gap in the rear engine cover behind the rear tires.. I am on my 2nd GT, long story, and this one has a 1/8 inch gap spread more than most that I've seen on the road.. I brought it Ford's attention and they said they tried to adjust it and was unable.
The car was never hit.. I've seen others have a varying gaps - however most with less of a gap.. Any suggestions??
My second issue is a little ding - like a door ding, on the top right fender. It's 1/2 the size of a dime.. Only I can see it as I know it's there and of course it bothers me.. Any suggestions.. I know there are door ding specialists all around, however they are playing with fiberglass..

I thought the fenders were aluminum?

The rear is adjustable. You need to remove the plastic cover to access the "rods" that position the rear tail piece in relation to the clamshell.

Kendall, aka Cooltech LLC aka Nota4re here on the forum is your best bet for the clamshell alignment especially since you are here in SoCal. He can also cover most of your maintenance - bet than a Ford dealer by any measure.

As far as the dent goes there are many expert that can work wonders. A guy that has done a lot of GT Clear Bra, detailing & dent removal is Sean Heiland in Anaheim. PM me if you want his #.

The fender are aluminum. Why would you think fiberglass? I would think that by removing the inner fender liner (not an easy thing), you should be able to resolve the issue, or, take it a body shop that deals in aluminum cars (i.e. jaguar, ferrari, etc.).

We could likely help you on both issues. Regarding the gap, this is adjusted with the rear apron and not the clamshell itself. Regarding the small ding, the fender liner can be removed which would allow access by a ding repair specialist. The fenders are aluminum.

Exactly. There is a possibility that the ding could be "suction cup pulled" w/o removing the inner fenderwell.

Sounds like good reasons to have the Discovery Automotive 2 piece inner fender liners.

I guarantee the ding on the top of your fender is from someones elbow. I have seen it atleast 10 to 15 times. What happens, is when the battery is dead or being changed, people tend to rest their elbow on the fender when removing or getting to the battery. It is aluminim and bends very easy. Any GOOD paintless dent removal guy should be able to get it out in about 30 mins for minimal cost. And the rear gap CAN be adjusted. Find someone in your area that knows what they are doing

When I had my Tungsten GT on order, I had never seen a Tungsten in person. Then I learned that there was a Ford dealership in Santa Barbara with a Tungsten in the showroom. I drove up there to have a look and the car was indeed in the showroom and roped off. There was a small ding in the top of one of the fenders - allegedly a gawker had fumbled their camera and it fell on the car! Yikes!

Thanks for the warning of the elbows.. The actual cause of the ding was a book falling out of a cabinet in the garage.. Dumb move.. The cabinet was open a bit and work was being done on the opposite wall and this book found it's way out of the cabinet and hit the car.. It was painful to see..
